The 20 kilogram mass of tumor that 24 year old Robiana Muteka had on his back has been removed succefully.
UTH managing director Dr Lackson Kasonka working with a team of 15 medical personnel says Robiana is out of danger.
Dr Kasonka has told ZNBC news that the operation went well and was not marred by any complications.
He says Robiana did not lose a lot of blood during the procedure which started around 08 hours this morning.
The tumor was removed around 10:00.
Robiana’s operation was delayed earlier due to insufficient blood for transfusion.
Robian’s blood is a rare type, B negative.
He was evacuated from Livingstone early this month, following an order from President Michael Sata that he accesses specialist treatment.
Last week Doctors at the UTH examined Robiana and they concluded that the tumors is not cancerous.

The Health system in Zambia is completely broken. There are so many poor people who are in dilenma like Robison Muteka. In Livingstone there is big General Hospital what were they advising him.Why they didn/t refer him to UTH,it took the president to intervene after reading the newspaper, without the paper Muteka would have died. One has to be held accountable to collect this.

Ee eh, those doctors who have served at Livingstone General Hospital in the last 10 years are irresponsible. For 10years sure. RB bought Mobile hospitals to fish out such cases but what about the post treatment care, assuming a mobile hospital moves on just after operating on such a case? But what do the doctors do in the general hospitals?

so tell me something, will such diseases be dealt with only when the president says so????????? we have the medical capacity to deal with so many conditions and people are being tormented to endure whatever it is they are going through, can the ministry of health make deliberate efforts to carry out such operations.
LETS THINK????

THANX TO YOU DOCTORS AT UTH FOR THE WORK WELL EXECUTED. BUT LIVINGSTONE GENERAL HOSPITAL SHOULD HAVE REFERRED ROBIANA TO UTH OR ADVISED THE GOVERNMENT TO EVACUATE HIM FOR SPECIALISED TREATMENT. WE CAN DO IT AS A COUNTRY AND WE WILL DO IT. LONG LIVE ROBIANA

We thank God for the successfull operation. Does anyone know how he’s doing now?
I was so sadened though about Eunice’s death from breast cancer. Honestly, what is the cancer center for if it cannot treat what it’s there for??? Does it have to take the government for these people to act? Its so sad. Our taxpayers money is being used for irrelevant things whilst the zambian people are dying! no, please lets learn to prioritise urgent issues. MHSRIP.

you doctors are useless. how do want your job to always be on news.be preactive,,,and the whole medical system is hell, you must take account of sick people within the jurisdictions of each clinic so that cases that can not be handled by clinics are refered to UTH before late.look at the chingola case where we lost our beloved sister..and who is to blem…
