‘Normal channels are being followed to track Henry’

Spokesperson for the joint team of investigative wings, Munganga Chanda has said normal channels are being followed to ensure the fugitive son of former President Rupiah Banda, Henry is brought home to answer to pending charges.

In an exclusive interview with Qfm, Ms Chanda declined to comment on a statement attributed to South African High Commissioner to Zambia Moses Chikane that his country cannot extradite Henry to their Zambian counterparts in the absence of solid charges.

She says efforts to arrest Henry who has been on the wanted list by the security wings are progressing well and that an Interpol red notice alert is in force.

On March 30th, 2012, a South African online publication, the Mail and Guardian reported that Henry has permanent residence in South Africa, where he enjoys business connections despite being on the police’s wanted list in Zambia.

The publication established that Henry has a company operating in Johannesburg that was registered in 1996 which still operates in South Africa.

Henry’s purported company Gushford Four is believed to be dealing in financial intermediation, insurance, real estate and business services.

Why are Zambians so petty.Concentrating on tracking Henry at the expense of developing the nation.Henry was a successful businessman even before his father became President.Do want him to be a destitute like Castro for you to believe that never stole. Moreover he was not in the MMD govt.
By the way,why is the govt giving a blind eye to thieving prevailing in govt institutions like the Ministry of Finance where even a simple accounts Assistant who gets K1,600,000 is able to acquire asset worth millions such as houses and vehicles within a short period of time. It’s time the govt put up a real fight against corruption not one aimed at perceived political opponents.

I agree with you Weeeee. Why is the govt not arresting immigration officers, who busy issuing work permit to foreigners after recieving bribes.A lot of officers from govt ministries have mansions in chalala and mean-wood.Why can’t they be investigated and arrested.

I have just been listening to enews and SA hs put it clear that the interpol alert to arest Henry is political motivated as there are no charges leveled against him. I think its shame to the police and really emberasing to fail to raise convicing charges. It seems the pf gvt hs blind folded most of the people to the extent that people cant see the benefits of changing governant and cant critise them. Us in the diaspora thought the country wl be in gud gvt bt all we read is total nosense and it wl be hard 4 investers to come and invest their money in an economy uncertain. Pls my country men lets critise and gv advice to wrong dicisions this gvt is making. Its like the opposition are no longer there, is that wat u call democracy?

Tedy Long. SA is a very arrogant country. Please remember the incidence with Nigeria on the yellow fever cards. They know that Zambia does not have the same muscle like the Nigerians. If the same person was wanted by countries that cxan squeeze their*****, they could have acted. Do they want all the details to be availed to them? and the issue of extradition are dealt with by courts of laws, and not high commissioners.

So now he is a South African Permanent Resident ? So what the f….. was he doing at State house ? Innocent bonafide Zambians have been denied duel nationality in the constitution and yet Chi Banda’s children can hop from one country to another using different passports ? I wonder what the Amerincans would do if suddenly Malia Obama decided to flee to Angola claiming permanent residency, after embarassingly laundering american public monies? Are we through with chi Rupiya Banda and the thieveing band of children and in-laws. Ama promotions here and there. Mwanya Zambia is now different! We are all watching!
