African Champions Zambia have slipped to fifth place on the continental ranking from fourth place which they occupied after winning the Africa Cup in Gabon in February.
This is despite the Chipolopolo boys climbing one place on the latest FIFA Coca Cola rankings posted today and monitored by QFM Sports News.
Zambia who have accumulated 640 points are now ranked 40th in the world from the previous 41st.
Mali the 2012 AFCON third finishers have leapfrogged Zambia to move in fourth position on the continent and 39th in the world.
Zambia’s slip from fourth to fifth position on the continent could be attributed to the Chipolopolo boys’inactivity since returning from the Africa cup.
Ivory Coast, Ghana and Algeria have maintained their positions of first, second and third respectively.

I always emphasise on friendlies cos most o da squad members are inactive therefore we need to regroup as early as possibo so that we install continuity in the team..

Isaa Hayatou is corrupt, he has been at CAF longer than Ililonga Ililonga @ Zambia Consumers Association! The.drop has nothing to do with not playing freindlies, it’s disrespect for us as African Champions. Come hell or high waters Brazil 2014 here we come, mark my words!

Ranking depends on wins and the rank of the team you beat or which beats you. When South Africa won the African championship, Zambia ranked no.1 in Africa. But because they were new comers and ignorant about rankings they complained against Zambia being no.1. So you all soccer novices, please leave this ranking issue to soccer fans. It’ll just enrage you for nothing. Just concentrate on the AFCON cup.

We deserve it, we were suppose to have played a few friendlies just to keep up the form and the team spirit. Remember every country on the African continent wants a piece of our Chipolopolo boys.FAZ, the Government and the Coach should wake up, otherwise bounce back to the lamentation corner. Ghana has some unfinished business with us, mark my words.

FAZ needs to get back to work and keep chipolopolo busy with regular international fixtures and other local programmes such as “All Satrs Vs The Rest”. This is a must to enhance cohesion in the team so that we do not embarrass ourselves at AFCON 2013. The pressure will be on us to prove that our 2012 AFCON win wasn’t a fluke!!

Imwe, Football Association Zambia made a wise decision to rest the national team when the whole world was playing friendlies. I cant believe pipo are stil concerned about rankings when we are african champions! Rankings are useful only because big teams wud want to play u if u are high up in the rankings. But if u are champions, big teams wil target u anyway, so rankings go outside the window. Atleast while we hold the title. Why are we worried about rankings? Its like someone completes his medicine studies and is now called doctor. But is worried whather the ka certificate he gained in public health before he did medicine wil be recognised. His doctorate is enuff evidence of his intelligence even without the certificate. Just like us, our title is far more attractive and superior to whatever monthly rankings. Rankings shud worry us only wen we loose our title.

rankings are important because they determine what kind of groups you are drawn during world cup qualifers, Afcon qualifiers, At world cup tournaments And at afcon tournaments. The higher ranked you are the better seeding you get. Now the only person to blame here is kalusha bwalya the man is too busy with dirty deals that he cannot even organize a friendly. i do not even know why he was re-elected. kalu out, Kalu out, Kalu out, kalou out. we want to bring A VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE.

Even after becoming Champions, Kalu and his team cant organise freindlies. By now we should have played Gabon and Ginea to thank them for the hospitality, We should have played Egypt to rallies behind us.
