‘Political Cadres Conduct At Funerals Is Saddening’
A church Mother Body has expressed sadness at the conduct of political party cadres during state funerals.
Independent Churches of Zambia (ICOZ) board chairperson David Masupa tells Qfm news in an interview that the conduct of the cadres during funerals makes sad reading and requires urgent attention from both political leaders and law enforcement agencies.
Reverend Masupa explains that a funeral is not a platform where political parties must execute their vindictiveness against perceived political opponents.
He says the time for political campaigns is over stating that it is pointless and shameful for cadres to engage in open confrontations against one another when their top leadership is peaceful.
Reverends Masupa has since called on all political stakeholders to discard conduct that is capable of subjecting the country’s democratic tenets to disrepute.
Recent funerals of late princess Nakatindi Wina and former Voice President George Kunda have seen ruling Patriotic Front cadres and those from the opposition MMD and UPND confront each other.

Under Levy, caderism lost its importance bcoz he knew that cadres are nothing more than a collection unemployed o disgruntled criminals. You can rent them (per Kalaki). PF has a duty to make cadres no more important than other law abiding citizens. Apparently going by what Mr. Kabimba says, I have doubts about that. Therefore, shikulu ba Sata, help us as your children to live and mourn as one, with dignity, in the company of people that may not belong to our parties, or our churches, etc. In you we trust. Zambians can mourn peacefully.

Its because political parties in Zambia think the only voters in Zambia are cadres real voters are suffering at the expense of this nuisance called cadres the are nothing but a bunch of hoodlums persecuting inocent Zambians. Eg do i need someone to pull me to a bus at intercity, in UNIP days there was nothing like that, i was still at boarding school them and i knew where to find the bus to take me to school. Today i will be harassed by call boys trying to outwit each other what has gone wrong and PF want to call that employment they are a nuisance.

This is utter primitivity and must be stopped immediately. We should be civilised enough to understand and accept that a political opponent is not an enemy, but one who has different ideals on how the country should be governed. We must demistify the practise of political parties despising their members for being seen in the company of members of other parties. We must be able to befriend each other at a personal level even when we hold different political views – just as we befriend each other while we hold different religous beliefs!!
