Govt Appeals To Mines to Assist in Paying Renard k500 million Monthly Salary

Government says it needs help in footing half a billion kwacha (US $100, 000) monthly salary for Frenchman Herve Renard and his assistant Patrice Beameulle.

Renard’s signed an improved contract after helping the Chipolopolo lift the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations that will see him oversee the squad until 2014.

The Frenchman’s market value shot up after his dream run at the Gabon/Equatorial Guinea showpiece.

Sports minister Chishimba Kambwili said before holding a private meeting with Mopani Copper Mines management that the salaries of the two expatriate coaches were not budgeted for and the corporate world was expected to assist the government in meeting the cost.

“Government has a huge task to pay the expatriate coaches Herve Renard and Patrice Beameulle. It is US $100,000 per month and our FA (Football Association of Zambia) cannot afford to pay that. In the past Kansanshi was paying the whole bill for the previous coaches now our approach is that we want to share the national cake so that when

Zambia wins, the mining industry and everyone should feel that they contributed in a way by meeting the salaries of the coach,” said Kabwili.

Thats a lot of money for a very poor country with no roads, no drugs in clinics, and very mean, ancient infrastructure! Why cant we have a situation where the coach and his assistant go back home on unpaid leave after a tournament such as the just-ended afcon, only to return a few months prior to the preparations for the next tournament? The govt would save some well-deserved cash, and the coaching staff would retire home smiling!

He has brought us a cup. I do not think he will bring another one – therefore Monsieur Renard can now coach other teams that have more cash to spend on such activities. No dis meant here, but business ni business.

Lets have facts right here is caption of Decemeber last year. His salary is $25,000 per month
Government on Monday agreed to help Faz meet Herve Renard’s salary.
This is following a tripartite meeting held at the Ministry of Sport in Lusaka.

The meeting was attended by Faz president Kalusha Bwalya and his general secretary George Kasenegle.

Also in attendance was National Sports Council of Zambia general secretary Rogers Chipili and sports council spokesperson Smart Mwitwa including other high ranking NSCZ committee members.

Sports minister Fackson Shamenda said they will study Faz’s proposed US$ 25,000 monthly pay for the Frenchman.

“Whatever the amount in the contract Government will find a way of helping to pay,” Shamenda said at the end of the two hour meeting.

However, Shamenda warned Faz that Football House must improve on its human resource management.

“As Government we will help to pay for the coach but in future there is need for consultations before hiring and firing,” the minister said.

Renard begun his second stint as Zambia coach in October when he was handed on a 12 month deal.

He replaces Italian Dario Bonetti who was fired on October 10 just two days after guiding Zambia to the 2012 Africa Cup tournament.

ZMK500,000 Is not too much money and besides gvt didnt say they will pay that amount. People must learn to give credit where its due. Hate it or love it Renard is worth that much and it is vital that he stays at chipolopolo together with his assitant. GRZ know its not a priority thats why the corporate world has been asked to give a hand. Learn to appreciate quality not quantity bafikala!!

It is not possible that this issue should be a problem now, when a contract has been signed for the duration. Like any organisation annual budgets are made on well defined sources of revenue and not by the grace of God. What ever anyone says, the job is hunting for him and not the other way round.he is worth the money even more… pipo must be realistic this guy is not the only one getting this much in zambia. it is up to faz to explain to us what plans were in place to have his contract extended period.bottom line is we need him.

For reinard to ask for such an amount of money how much money was in the afcon trophy? Does he wants to get everything from the team? Pliz ba coach be real do you want to be the highest paid in zambia even more than me a CEO { Cattle Escort Operator}?

Hey this is big money, what is he doing to earn such money. We have areas were that money can be used.We have good coaches better than HR.He only came in at the last time when a team was already ready for the AFco.Lets think twice about the K500 million.Training footballers must be in the range of K5,000,000.00 to K30,000,000.00 per month not that jack pot.
