FRA Maize Thieves Nabbed
The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) in collaboration with the Zambia Police Service has recovered 40 by 50 kilogram bags of maize worth about 2.6 million kwacha, which was stolen in Petauke at eastern roofing sheds.
FRA public relations officer Mwamba Siame told journalists in Lusaka this morning that the driver for the contracted Sable transport connived with some people at the shed and illegally got 40 more bags of maize of the supposed 650 bags.
Mrs. Siame noted that it is through such illegal activities that lead to genuine farmers not being paid on time.
And police spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela has disclosed that three people in connection with the recovered maize have since been arrested.
The three have been identified as Cloud Mwale aged 39 of Kanyama compound who is believed to be the driver of the truck belonging to Sable transport registration number AAL 8833, Kellies Sikalumbila, 42 of Chipata compound who is the buyer of the maize and Luka Kalumbu aged 29, driver of the Mitsubishi canter registration number ABX 2389 that was transporting the maize.
The trio has since been charged with theft contrary to section 272 cap 82 of the penal code of the laws of Zambia and will appear in court soon.
Ms. Kanjela says the police service will also arrest people that were involved in loading the maize.

We are goin to suspend the jadge if at all he is goin to convict our party officials for theft. we send them there, to raise some money for the party activities. coz we are the party in power and that maize is ours as pf. so kanjela you must stop embarasing our party oficial other wise the party and mr sata in partcura will deal with you. this is the pf gov position over this matter. that was not stealing.

Theft is theft whether one bag or 40 bags. I wonder why pipo justify evil. You will be the same pipo who will soon start complaining for non payment for your agro outputs.
