William Banda Was Never Loyal – MMD
The opposition Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) says its former Lusaka province chairman William Banda who has defected to the UPND was never a loyal member of the party.
MMD Deputy National Secretary Chembe Nyangu says if Mr. Banda was loyal to the former ruling party, he would not have resigned and defected to another political party just after its election loss last year.
Mr. Banda this morning announced his resignation from the MMD to join the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND).
Mr. Nyangu however says his party is not worried about Mr. Banda’s decision because it was already aware that he had intentions to defect, particularly to the ruling Patriotic Front.
Speaking to QFM, Mr. Nyangu says the party is better off remaining with a few committed members than having a large number of disloyal members.

One wonders what moral principles UPND stand on. Birds of the same feathers flock together. Is it not a good thing UPND did not win the last elections, we are now seeing their true colors. What a backboneless party. If they can tolerate of all people William Banda to join their party, what is it that this party is truly seeking?

Better UPND really watchout because Tekere is a very scuuny man full of greedy and hidden agendas as he purely an opportunist. He left UNIP like a nightmare to join MMD where he made RB lose because of his mischievious deeds in Chongwe and whereever he went. Now he’s defected to UPND just to finish them up as an agent of secret service under PF. HH beware, Tekere is a snake in tall grass and bet me, you will soon confirm my words. This man is not a factor in the political sphere of our country. Remember this same man was in UNIP, the only thing he knows is violence. Has he joined UPND to make it a violent party or in the ruling party he has been rejected? Let no UPND supporter rejoice over this defection coz which election has William Banda won? 1991 UNIP lost badly in Lusaka and not so long ago his cousin lost shamefully in Lusaka.

When william banda was in mmd harrasing innocent people, he was a factor and no one bothered to condem him among the mmd leadership. But now that he has decided to exrcise his democrat right to join upnd he has suddenly become a non entity. Lets give him time, may be he will be a better person this time around.
