Nkana Fire Linos Makwaza

Record 11-time Zambian champions Nkana have fired coach Linos Makwaza after two and a half years in charge.

Nkana club secretary Ken Mwansa told MTNFootball.com that Makwaza was handed his dismissal letter at lunchtime, Monday in Kitwe.

“In view of the team’s persistent poor performance, the executive has decided to make certain changes in order to try to improve on the team’s performance,” Makwaza’s dismissal letter stated.

Makwaza’s firing comes in the wake of a 13-game winless run for Nkana and the team traces its last win to April 14 when they beat Roan United 3-0 away in a Week Four game.

Nkana have since April collected nine draws and four defeats and the final nail in the coffin came on Saturday when Makwaza’s side lost 3-1 away to fourth placed Red Arrows in Lusaka.

“As part of these measures, we regret to inform you that your services will no longer be required,” Nkana stated.

“We accordingly give you one month’s notice of termination – all your obligations to the club and vice versa shall cease with effect from 23 July 2012.

“We thank you for your services to the Club and hope you will continue to support our endeavors.”

Nkana are currently fifth from bottom in 12th place on 16 points from 17 games played.

Makwaza joined Nkana in July 2010 and led them to a fifth place finish that season and seventh in 2011.

this is the decision we have been waiting to hear from the Nkana executive. The team has sunk so low interms of performance and requires a coach with a vision for the 11 time champions.coaches like Linos have no psycological intelligence and technical approach to the standards of modern football. Try coach Ronald Chinku who has vast coaching experience.

only time will tell wether makwaza was at faulty for nkanas failures..the problem is far more than makwaza…did the executive conduct a postmoterm to find out the actual problem..one person cannot be solely blamed for nkanas poor performance,,the players..management and sponsors should bera the blame,
