ROAD Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) director, Fredrick Mwalusaka and deputy director in charge of Transport, Robert Mtonga have been fired.
RTSA board chairperson, Kaitano Chungu confirmed the development yesterday, saying the two were handed letters of termination of their contracts on Monday this week.
“Yes the board handed them letters of separation as of yesterday (Monday),” Mr Chungu said.
Asked why the two have been relieved of their duties, Mr Chungu said the provisions of the contract gave the prerogative to either party to opt out.
Mr Chungu said RTSA deputy director in Charge of Safety, Martin Mbangu, had been appointed to act as director for administrative purposes.

LONG OVERDUE!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS MR. MARTIN MBANGU, WHEN THEY FINALLY APPOINT YOU, BRING IN FRESH INNOVATIVE GUYS WHO WILL HELP YOU CHANGE RTSA.
DRUNK DRIVING IS THE BIGGEST HEADACHE YOU NEED TO DEAL WITH. BUY MANY ALCOHOL METERS AND MOUNT ROAD BLOCKS TO REMOVE THE SCOURGE. THINK OF A NEW SI TO HAVE A FAST TRACK COURT AND HEAVY FINES. PUBLISH DRUNKARDS IN A DAILY TABLOID FOR ALL TO SEE THEM.
I CAN ASSURE YOU, SANITY WILL RETURN TO ZAMBIAN ROADS

It was long overdue, Mwalusaka was corrupt and it should actually serve as a warning to the incoming boses that one day they will also be fired like mwalusaka hence for them to deliver deligently. There is too much corruption at RTSA offices country wide but lusaka s worse so those coming should clear the mess or else the cobra will spit in their eyes.

It would be fair to say why they were fired. Or else, they will be unfaired judged.

For once, the board must also be investigated for the unprofesssional conduct in PPP .. number plates and driver’s licenses sandal. These guys have ripped Zambia off and have sold our country to foreigners for small amounts of money. I urge the board to revolke all contracts that are under signed with third parties i.e., non state actors like Eagle investments etc.
Its a shame these guys looked at short term selfish interests against their own and indeed the country’s long term interests. Shame, shame shame!

Ba fred u didnt have a solution to the many challenges facing rtsa.for example:wen one commits a trafic offence y not not book the offender and give 2 wks ultimatum,if he fails to pay the amount shd kip on increasing until the next renewal.if fails to rene, the car is considered a hot car and if found the offender is treated as a case of car theft and in addition the car is right away forfeited to the state.Thats all cars shd be on the national data base.it will drastically reduce corruption and lessen the inconviniece.

Yes a change was needed at ratsa management. Can this be extended to RDA,NRFA and the Ministry of finance. These institutions need shake ups and we need to fire those who are pulling the economy backwards

September 5, 2012 at 8:40 pm
yah this was long overdue. Same things day in day out. We need people who are innovative. Cameras at all traffic light and main roads, we can make alot of money from offenders. We have a data base it should not be difficult to catch offenders and make followup. In dubai if u bit red light u are charged about $1550.00 in addition u are locked up for a day and your car is impounded for a week. Why is it difficult to implement such things in Zambia? RDA must implement toll gates.

It has happened so fast for Mwalusaka especially that he was on ZNBC a few days ago. I had one question for him on his advocacy for manual and special driving-testing vehicle in driving schools which techology was applicable in 1980s and not now. As I sat listening to him and his advocacy, I felt like the guy was just a reflector and not a thinker because at this era and age, a visionally man wouldnt advocate for such vehicles when other countries have gone on automated tests which are corrupt free. At his age, he must be thinking of IT to alleviate corruption. Simulators. Simulators. Simulators are the key to the highly subjective driving exams. Currently it is hard to think that there is a meritious system at RTSA. New Director at RTSA, consider automating the driving tests i.e acquire driving simulators. Be thinkers and NOT drinkers of tea when you are given such offices.

Mwalusaka needed evolving, he was boring and had no ideas on how to run Transport and saftey agancy. But still, he’s firing is just to pave way for a relative. Why cant we just try to do the right thing and put credible people in strategic positions. We shall never develop this country with such mentality. Zambia is not owned by any one family mind you and we the masses are getting tired of this crap. Arnachy is actually better off than this tribalism going on!

To the relevant authorities, please extend these firing to kitwe ratsa, there is too much corruption. the whole work force at kitwe seem not to know why they were employed. i am just coming from there, since last week tuesday my white book is not yet out and i keep on getting permission from work. one has to go on leave for atleast a week just to have his/her vehicle registered, and this is happening after decentralisation.

Can some one check on the Maritime trucks , he doesnt seem to have registrations for his trailers and most of his drivers are not qualified to drive trucks because he cant employ qualified ones due to greed. Also check on his vehicles he keeps switching number plates for vehicles . wonder if they are registered becuase they pack when interpol come for routing checks. i am sure he must be paying some one at Rtsa, no wonder their boss was fired

Mwalusaka was as clean as they come, truth is Martin Mbangu has really worked hard to have him fired, Now that you have what you wanted Mr Martin Mbangu let us see you manage that institution the way it is supposed to be run not inconveniencing the road users with useless road blocks whose only aim is to line the pockets of yourself and those seconded from the police like yourself.
You should look at the wisdom of having stationary vehicles from NRDC up to Chainama Hotel just because someone is checking for a reflector on a vehicle in the name of compliance checks, vehicles ques from as far as Chingwere turnoff just because someone needs a nchekeleko at Kabangwe.
Ba Martin, time for climbing ladders by poisoning your friends is long gone, it is a pity we have Ministers who still give an ear to such useless crap like you.
