UCZ Congregation In SERIOUS Ritual Scandal
POLICE in Lusaka yesterday rescued three boys from a suspected bizarre ritual that could have led to the death of the boys.
The three children were rescued from a shallow water-well covered with heavy logs of wood and other objects by some congregates of United Church of Zambia (UCZ) at Lusaka’s Kabangwe congregation.
A caretaker of the church has been arrested to assist with investigations while the church leadership has been summoned and would appear at Lusaka Central Police this morning.
Lusaka Division Police chief Solomon Jere confirmed the incident in an interview and took to task a police officer from Kabangwe for not arresting the suspects who were conducting prayers at the time saying this amounted to being accomplices.
Dr Jere said the three children were rescued from the well while some members of the congregation were found worshiping at the same water-well where the kids were buried alive.
The unidentified children of the same area aged nine, 10 and 14 years, were found with deep bruises on their heads, backs and buttocks, though one of the boys ran away.
Dr Jere said a docket for the leaders of the congregation was opened while clothes of the three boys were found with the caretaker.
Dr Jere said some people in the neighbourhood got incensed upon seeing what the church members were doing and tipped police who quickly rushed to the scene.
“In Kabangwe area, we had a serious case where three children were buried alive into a hole by some UCZ church members and they covered it with heavy logs and other objects and the members started worshiping.
“We don’t really know the reason or motives behind but we also found the clothes of these children with a caretaker,” Dr Jere said.
The caretaker tried to prevent the police from carrying out their duties.
Dr Jere said police have since instituted investigations to establish reasons why the members could go to an extent of burying the children and start worshiping.
He said, although people had freedom of worshiping in accordance with different church doctrines, it was inhuman to bury alive anybody.
He appealed to society to avoid incidences that threatened and put human life in jeopardy.

Those people are witches and wizards. That kind of worship is uncertain, arrest them, punish and peharps that church should be closed. Honestly speaking can a church be involved in such scandals? That’s not a church it’s a cult.

shocked and iam a member of the ucz but lets call a spead a spead.this local leadership should be arrested and prove their innocence.need 2 hear a statement from th e synody bishop and or secretary general soon to avoid wholistic church condemination.satanism is in individuals hiding in the church name.lets change 4 better and be christ like.local leadership be expelled if need be.guday and this is from chikwanda christopher in kasama.

may be the pastor was learning on how to baptise his congregants but did it the wrong way. I have respect for churches but now it’s UCZ, why not learn from NAC which you will never find participating in any wrong ideologies or talking ricklessly on national TV like Catholic, SDA Pente and other so called churches.

…But where were the parents for these children or should I say which church do the parents for these children go? Maybe the parents were among the church members or they could have sold them to the church for ritual purposes

this is a sad situation, am a ucz member and have failed to understand why such a thing could be going on amongst church members, which I think are few, otherwise most members would have fled the church if they knew what was going on. please mention the names of the people involved so they explain their motives. We thank God these children were rescued and punish who ever is envolved as this is inhuman

There are two sides to every story so let caretaker tell us his own. Well, no matter what anyone says, am UCZ and I know that is not even part of our doctrine so if it did happen,its some misguided chaps who did that. Let Kabonde, Chibuye or Mulumbwa give statement from UCZ coz its Lusaka Presbytery and also Synod should have a say.

We should be careful with religion. It has the potential to blind people and make them irrational. People have killed in the name of Christianity or Islam and they are still killing in the name of religion and they will kill. To yoke all Zambians to one religion is an enforcement similar to slavery. Leave Religion out of the constitution.

The worst of all UCZ congregations in the country is in Kafue. Resurrection church found in Kafue Estates. The Church mother body should start employing various levels of congregational discipline as formal controls administered to by congregation elders that is, from headquarters not within Kafue. Adultery, alcohol, intoxication, extortion, fornication, fraud, lying, theft defamation, sexual abuse, diseases and funeral gossiping.
The mushrooming of Pentecostal church is as the result of doctrine migration from the Christian recruiting center Resurrection church. The author is former Kafue town resident, former Kafue Estates resident, former UCZ elder and now Bishop in one of God fearing on Copperbelt.

Where shall we run to…we thought leaving our children with uncles is safe but God forbid, they are defiled,same with cousins, and then we thought oh! grandpas are ok, but alas! they abuse them too, and then we thought of running to the church, where preachers say” come o of u who are weary and heavy ladened and l shall give u rest…but they have turned out to be worse….murdering both our nieces and kids…where shall we go …where shall we run to?
