Zambia national team coach Herve Renard has questioned the appointment of fellow Frenchman Henry Michel as Harambee Stars coach.
Renard did not mince his words when asked of his opinion over the appointment of the 64 year old as coach.
“Henry Michel was a bad choice for Kenya and I think you should have got a better coach who can inspire players and also relate to the players.”
“I don’t have anything against Michel but a coach should be judged by his track record and the effectiveness and consistent he has in teams he has coached.”
“Kenya has so much potential but I think the country went for the wrong coach who cannot lift the team to greater heights as his time is up and his tactics wrong. Kenya needed a coach that could inspire its rise to continental glory,” Renard told supersport.com in Lusaka.
Further prodded to suggest who would have been his preferred choice for a Kenyan coach Renard said, “I saw a lot of good coaches that applied but I don’t want to make any suggestion but Kenya needed a more robust coach that can bring a difference to the team since they have been struggling.”

I doubt whether Renard said this. The man’s English isnt very good so the reporter may have misunderstood him. Henri has coached so many African teams apart from France for Renard not to see his track record. He has coached Tunisia Cameroon Morocco Côte d’Ivoire Equatorial Guinea and clubs such as Zamalek and Sundowns
