Renard Summons Italian Goalkeeper for AFCON Training Camp

Herve Renard has called up teenage Italian goalkeeper Luciano Pasquini of 3rd tier side Perugia for preliminary phase of 2013 Africa Cup training camp.

Pasquini is part of Renard’s B team that will travel for a two-week training camp in India at the end of November.

The goalkeeper from Perugia academy has opted to play for Zambia where he has family roots.

“He was born in 1994 and we are awaiting full documentation from his parents,” Football Association of Zambia spokesman said

“Plans are he will fly directly to India to join the team when it sets up camp there.”

Renard is taking a 24-member team of mostly fringe players to India for the African champions’ initial phase of training camp from November 19-31.

@ ba him, you have to bear in mind that Mweene is the best net minder in Zambia. this boy is only coming to be the second choice goal custodian and not that my captain Mweene will be on the bench. what you should have said is that we need back up in goal because thats the only area we are worried about..

True dat. If Mweene was to pick up am injury, it would be disastrous.

Special force; the boy is most likely a relation of Michael Pasquini the proprietor of Handyman’s Paradise.
