FAZ Turns To Qatar For Chipolopolo Training After India Trip Flopped

After the botched 10 day India training camp for local based Chipolopolo players, FAZ has opted to look to either Qatar or the United Arab Emirates for another pre 2013 Africa Cup of Nations training camp.
Konkola Copper Mines had offered to foot the bill for a training camp in India as part of preparations for the 2013 Africa Cup but the Indian FA opted out due to poor communication.
The move means Zambia will have to commence preparations later than scheduled.
The proposed Gulf training camp comes in the wake of the cancelled 10-day trip to India that was due to run from November 19-30.
A FAZ source said the move to announce the next destination was frozen out as Football House was hoping KCM would still agree to fund the proposed trip.
“We are looking at either Qatar or Dubai to hold the training camp,” the source said.
“The plan is to see if KCM will be willing to sponsor us or the government,” the source said.
Herve Renard is expected to maintain the same squad he had named that had only three foreign-based players in Chisamba Lungu, Chintu Kampamba (clubless) and 18-year old Italian based goalie Luciano Pasquini.
Prior to winning the 2012 Africa Cup, Zambia had camped in India courtesy of KCM who are an Indian owned mining company.

Why take our boys to middle east which is currently politically unsafe? The terrorists are on loose there… Just check what is happening in Bahrain, Yemen, Syria… Israel has planning to attack Iranian nuclear facilities.. Dubai or UAE may be the next target by those Muslim extremists. Why take the risk?
