The Chishinga Royal Establishment of Chief Mushota’s chiefdom of Kawambwa district in Luapula Province has defended Housing and Infrastructure Minister Ronald Chitotela over calls by a section of society for him to step down from his ministerial position or have President Edgar Lungu fire him over alleged corrupt allegations leveled against him.
Chishinga royal establishment Chairperson Musonda Mushota says the royal establishment were Mr. Chitotela hails from has been forced to react following continued accusations by some individuals and organizations that the minister is corrupt.
In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Mushota has reminded those accusing Mr. Chitotela of being corrupt and asking him to resign as minister that he is innocent until proven guilty by the courts of law.
He says Zambians should respect Mr. Chitotela for his good works both as Minister and as Pambashe Member of Parliament instead of always pointing out someone’s wrongdoings.
The Anti-Corruption Commission -ACC- recently re-arrested Mr. Chitotela and slapped him with 9 more charges of corruption.
Mr. Chitotela and three others are already being prosecuted by the ACC before Lusaka Principal Magistrate, David Simusamba on charges related to the offences for which he was recently arrested.
