Solwezi AN 82-YEAR-OLD woman of Lindumbi village in Senior Chief Ndungu’s area in Chavuma district has been burnt to death after her thatched house caught fire in unclear circumstances.

North-Western Province Commissioner of Police Hudson Namachila identified the deceased as Kandeleyi Fumbelo, and said the incident happened on Wednesday around 07:00 hours. “We had a report of sudden and unnatural death which occurred on September 4 at Lindumbi village in Sefu area in Zambezi west bank reported by Muwema Chipango, 54, who is the nephew of the deceased,” Mr Namachila said. He said police inspected the scene and did not find any articles to suspect foul play.

“Relatives were interviewed and it was established that the deceased usually had a fire burning in the house,” he said. He said she lived with two small children who were playing outside the same house at the time the house caught fire,” Mr Namachila said. He said police have ruled out foul play in the matter and relatives were advised to go ahead with burial.
