17 Malawian ‘Ghost Voters’ Nabbed In Nakonde As A Magnitude Flee Into The Bush

SEVENTEN (17) Malawians are in police custody in Nakonde district after they were found with fake Zambian national registration cards and voters’ cards this morning.
The 17 are said to have confessed to a group of alert citizens who pounced on them at a lodge owned by one MMD parliamentary candidate standing in tomorrow’s election.
The MMD candidate and Nakonde district commissioner, who have been taking care of the bills for the Malawian ‘voters’ are said to be on the run as well.
The 17 are part of another group that has disappeared in a near-by bush after managing to elude the dragnet when they heard that their scheme had been exposed. A search party is said to have gone after them.
The fake voters are said to have confessed in front of cameras and before police and immigration officers saying they were not the only ones but part of a large group that has been trained and paid to cast their votes from multiple polling stations around the country.
The NRCs and voters cards have been surrendered to the police.
