Magande To Be New Bank Of Zambia (BoZ) Governor
SOURCES have disclosed to Tumfweko that former Minister of Finance and National Planning Ngandu Magande may be the new Bank of Zambia Governor.
Sources disclosed that Magande who served as minister from July 2003 to Nov 2008 will be the next supremo at Bank of Zambia.
“Magande is being quoted and its likely the appointment is coming. The man is a professional and he is whole heatedly welcome here (BoZ),” the source said to Tumfweko.
Magande was Advisor on finance and national planning African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States Secretary General Jul 1996 to Feb 2000 · Brussels, Belgium -Chief Executive Officer and Advisor to ACP and EU countries At the ACP Secretariat, he supervised a team of 84 multi-cultural and multi-lingual officers from 34 countries.
His responsibilities included the coordination of European Union trade and aid support to the ACP countries in liaison with the European Commission. This entailed servicing Committees of representatives from the member states and governments of the EU member states, Parliament and Council of Ministers, and a large number of private sector institutions and NGOs in the ACP and EU countries.
In 1994, he was retired from the public service after 23.5 years of dedicated service. He was immediately employed by the Zambian Government as a Project Coordinator under a Technical Assistance Consultancy funded by the African Development Bank (ADB) to assist in managing a US $48 million private sector support project for the agricultural industry. The project was funded by the African Development Bank, World Bank and Zambian Government. He coordinated all actors involved in the project who included the World Bank, ADB, the Bank of Zambia, local participating commercial banks, government ministries, road construction companies, and marketing companies.

Even in the corrupt MMD government, Magande was smart. He is welcome in office and expected to stretch a mile in this new government.

Magande is hardworking and inteligent, with vast experience in financial issues. He will bring to BOZ a huge wealth of experience that will benefit ur country. Remember, as finace minister in Mwanawasa Govt, they were able to score highly on the Zambian Economy. I would urge PF to consider him for this position.

Gentlemen, if we want Zambia to develop, we should not look at our sir names but at One Zambia One Nation. Lets not involve tribalism in our thinking or else we shall not go anywhere. If Magande is appointed BOG I have no problem. This will be good. But the question we should ask him is. What happens to his party. This is why from the beginning we asked him to join PF instead of making a kama small party.

From my point of view, Magande should not be ignored if He suggests certain economic sectors like Aviation should be protected and supported. The Open skies(Thighs) Policy that People are supporting so blindly is applied so reservedly in countries that are concerned about the Job security of their Citizens and survival of their indigenous companies.
Time to wake up Zambia, Let Zambians spend money on companies that will retain the Dollar here!

Magande is the one who was giving orders to state institutions to give loans to or not to collect taxes/levies from the failed Zambian Airways. He was behaving like village tyrant. Not at BOZ pleaaaaase! He was just a minister for that matter, what more as a president?

Magande is well seasoned, I just feel he is a muselela kwakaba; remember he wanted to be President as well??? What we should be saying in this forum is that ZAMBIA is for ZAMBIANS. The world is giving us HIGH FIVES for having a white VP. If this can happen of which none of you guys have I heard you complaining. So what wrong with having a Tonga as Bank Governor. I know Zambians to be proud but most pipo are reducing themselves to be ridiculed for nothing. As far as I know, any ZAMBIAN can be a Leader. I hate to say this, but at one time I said a Bemba can never be President but look around, not far and give me the name of the president. We are civilised bunch and lets act as such.
