DIE HARD Youths Back NEVERS MUMBA For MMD Presidency
THE Die Hard MMD youth wing has backed the candidature of former Zambian High Commissioner to Canada Nevers Mumba to take over the party presidency from current holder former republican President Rupiah Banda.

National co-ordinator Bowman Lusambo said in Lusaka yesterday though other party officials named in the former ruling party’s presidential race equally have leadership skills, Dr Mumba is the best candidate.
Others reportedly vying for the MMD presidency include former minister of Commerce and Lunte member of Parliament Felix Mutati, former minister of Defence Kalombo Mwansa, Chisamba member of Parliament Moses Muteteka and former minister of Foreign Affairs and Kasempa member of Parliament Kabinga Pande.
“We think Nevers Mumba can push us from where we are now to the next stage, probably taking us back into power. We know that Nevers Mumba will work with the youths, all structures of our party, the Church and ordinary Zambians.
“We want to encourage the MMD youths to come together and support his candidature because we, as the party youth wing, have received warm welcome from the general party membership in all the provinces. We have also received a lot of support from the intellectuals with whom we have shared this idea (of supporting Dr Mumba),” Mr Lusambo said.
He said Dr Mumba has leadership qualities that the MMD needs in its current state.
He said the tele-evangelist and former diplomat, who once served as republican vice-president in former President Levy Mwanawasa’s administration, is charismatic, clean, has the ability to interact with all citizens regardless of their political affiliation and has vast experience in relating with the international community.
Mr Lusambo warned that the MMD youths will not support any candidate who will engage in corrupt practices in a bid to win the presidency.
“If we hear that anyone is dishing out money we shall report that person to NEC (national executive committee) and demand the expulsion of that particular candidate because we don’t want corruption. We want to have a new MMD with a new image and strategies,” he said.
Mr Lusambo said all the presidential hopefuls must exercise their democratic right in a decent manner. Mr Lusambo said the MMD youths are aware that a named senior female party official is scheming to disturb the democratic process of electing a new president.
He warned the official in question to stay away from the process because she has misled the party before and is still capable of doing the same. Mr Lusambo said the MMD youths will maintain respect for Mr Banda and former vice- president George Kunda and pledged to work with the two on all matters concerning the party’s welfare.
Mr Banda, who went through unopposed at the party national convention held in Kabwe early this year, has fallen out of favour with the party after the MMD lost the September 20 tripartite elections to the ruling Patriotic Front.
Meanwhile, opposition MMD national youth chairperson Moses Muteteka has called on party members to give chance to the national executive committee (NEC) to select an acting president of the party.
Mr Muteteka, who has applied for the position of acting party president, said he is ready to take up the position and re-organise the former ruling party ahead of the 2016 tripartite elections.
He said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday he will contest the position as announcement by MMD national secretary Richard Kachingwe, who called on individuals desiring the position to express their interest and apply.
Mr Muteteka, who is also member of Parliament for Chisamba, said he has been in politics long enough and has the capacity to provide leadership to both the young and old.
He also welcomed the decision by the party’s NEC to invite applications from suitably qualified members to take over the leadership of the opposition party following former President Banda’s intention to retire from active politics.
Mr Muteteka said the party needs a vibrant and youthful leader and that if elected acting party president he will work hard and help the party to win the 2016 tripartite elections.
“I have applied to NEC, and I’m hoping that I am given chance to be elected as acting president so that we can organise our party ahead of the 2016 elections.
I’m mature enough to provide the leadership that the MMD party wants,” Mr Muteteka said.

PERSONAL OPINION: MMD’s downfall has been casued by their culture of imposed successors by an incumbent president. Although Mwanawasa had a clean record when Chiluba endorsed to take over the reigns of the party, and a good disciplinarian he did not have the capacity to organise and unite the party. And so was RB when Mwanawasa fished him from the archives. In RB’s case, it even got worse because the man was so foreign to the ideals and culture of the MMD that all that mattered for him was globetrotting and “Ukuchilisha” in state house. Therefore the culture of not protesting against imposed leaders must end. Leaders must earn their progressiona to the highest office through the work the do and the trust and confidence of the general membership.
Having said so I seriously doubt whether NEVERS MUMBA comes close meeting to the criterion I have mentioned. He’s not someone you can trust. If you elect him acting president and the next day Sata offers him a position Nevers will dump you. He’s tried it all – was a loved and well respected evangelist that pulled crowds and just when he’s congregation was steadily growing he dump his flock opting for glory in politics. He at one time also tried forming a party of his own, which also came to naught. His idea of belonging to a party is only by way of heading it, and I can tell you if he doe’nt get the MMD presidency he’ll be looking for another political home – most likey PF. So the youth of MMD should not base their choses on excitement or emotion, but their knowledge of the ideals and principles of the party, and evaluate the candidates on the basis of who can best implement those values. WHAT IS KEY FOR MMD NOW IS GOOD ORGANISATION CAPACITY, UNIFYING AND GROWING THE PARTY MEMBERSHIP AND A LEADERSHIP THAT IS CLOSE TO THE GRASSROOTS, NOT A CHONGOLOLO! Maybe KABINGA PANDE OR MOSES MUTETEKA can revive MMD, remember the world is getting younger – look at OBAMA, MEDVEDEV, DAVID CAMERON , etc. THIS IS JUST MY HUMBLE OPINION, ANYWAY MWALAI SOLVA MWEBENE!

If i was Nevers i would refuse the offer,inheriting MMD is like inheriting a horse with a broken leg with the hope that one one day it will run in a race again!! kekekekeke! MMD is dead,finished,caput,finito… the earlier those die hards get it in there thick skulls,the better.

Ati, ba die hard MMD youths! Remember old habits die hard. Already you have started exhibiting the tenets of being undemocratic. Let every leader be chosen at the convention. Do not start coming out with your opinions which will deter capabale leaders from advancing their intentions of vying for party president.
I hope the habit of dishing out money by the candidates to be to win support will be contained. MMD is a very very corrupt party in the area of coming up with leaders and no one can challenge me on this fact.
Ba die hard youths, I wish you had recommended Nevers to go back to the pulpit and preach the word of God especially against the looming gay rights (homosexuality), tugiligili, corruption, nepotism and the like. Otherwise, MMD and Nevers are far from repairing the damage caused to this country. In short, I can no longer trust Nevers and MMD. Nevers is very inconsitent consistently in his political career. One incident I can cite is that of condeming Mwanawasa when he was appointed by FTJ. Nevers said and I quote “Mwanawasa is like a cake placed on a heap of rubbish”, meaning that MMD as a party was not worth joining because of being corrupt and dirty. However, when he was appointed by Mwanawasa as VP, he abandoned his NCC party in the same way he did for Victory Ministry when he joined active politics. Remember, old habits die hard. Sata can reappoint him (Nevers) to go back to the foreign mission. Ba die hard youths, research before coming up with some of these names otherwise you will be gravely disappointed. Well solve your own problems.

Nevers Mumba can not be trusted ,he loves to use the name of God for personal gain,many years ago he asked members of the church to buy bricks to build a church ,which we did( i was a member) .that church was never built,He once told the nation that if he was appointed to any political position he could refuse because
in the eyes of God that would be a demotion,the list goes on .this man should just choose one thing
to be a pastor or join politics,Nevers remember we all know the bible , you were once PF member after they lost the elections you moved to MMD.give a chance to other people The Bible say don’t use the name of God in vain ,Muselela kwakaba

Mwanawasa fired nevers becoz he was too sharp for him.even after being fired he has never been bitter about it.nevers is the man for the leadership of Zambia.Zambia shall surely be saved
