XAVIER CHUNGU Backtracks On Plans To Denounce THE POST

FORGERY convict and corruption suspect Xavier Chungu was today 11/7 expected to hold a media briefing at which he intended to criticise The Post over his botched appointment as Luapula Province Permanent secretary.
Chungu’s briefing was expected to start at 10:00 hrs today 11/7.
However, according to sources close to Chungu, the former intelligence chief was discouraged from going ahead with the briefing.
The sources said Chungu’s message was to be anchored on denouncing The Post, which he accuses of being Prejudicial to his interest and rights.
The sources said Chungu believes he has the right to serve in public service like any other Zambian.
The sources revealed that Chungu denies being guilty of the corruption cases he is facing in courts of law.
President Michael Sata last week appointed Chungu but has not sworn him in due to public pressure.
The law association of Zambia (LAZ), Transperancy International Zambia (TIZ), Zambia Episcopal Conference (ZEC), Caritas Zambia, opposition political parties, youth groups and ordinary Zambians alike have publicly opposed President Sata’s appoinntment of Chungu and Emmanuel Mwamba, the former spokesperson of Frederick Chiluba, who died with a corruption tag after seven-year corruption trial.
President Sata defied public disapproval and appointed and swore in Mwamba as Northern Province permanent Secretary.
Chungu, who served as Zambia Security Intelligence Services (ZSIS) director general during Chiluba’s corruption-ridden regime between 1991 and 2001, is still facing corruption cases in court.
At the peak of his corruption trial during the reign of the late president Levy Mwanawasa, Chungu fled Zambia in 2004 but returned in December 2008, four months after the death of Mwanawasa.
Chungu was in 2009 jailed for 9 months with hard labour for forgery of a passport.

One of the many reasons why RB went out of office was defying public outcry, Not listening to people like the Church (here I don’t mean churches that congregate in ex-beer halls and classrooms), TIZ or Caritas, etc. My prayer is King Michael must not fall into that pit, because in 5 years’ time he will need the public, and in the interims there are “friendlies” to be played thru by-elections. Meantime, we need him to do the right thing in the next 5 years. Peace be with u ALL.

Mr Chungu please do not force your way in. You still have cases to answer. Hold your fire and do not spoil people,s jovial mood of supporting PF government. When you are cleared, you will be at liberty to even hold press briefing(s). Very few citizens if not none can understand your position. Please please, stay out of their way!

Ba Chungu lekeni ifitala,Na imwe ba Sata bushe mulibeni nangu mufulo? Why such blunders so early in less than 90 days is this the change you meant for Zambians.seat down and reflect and make use of those aids your office has before you speak Sir.

MCS check yourself out, you defy our cry we will defy yours in 2016. Take a leaf from RB, he thought he was smart but Zambians are smarter, ba President you are not very clean as you think, people still smell something fish about your conduct in the Chiluba regime, even you stylish statement of being allergic to corruption is just a trademark. The product from your corruption fight is the appointment of Mwamba and Chungu, are you still clean Mr. President? This fight is not against corruption but against MMD and RB, if you really meant battle against corruption you would have begun to clean you party and govt.

Its so sad that MCS has started ignoring the people who voted for him so early. Bwafya ububwena When did mwamba join the fight against corruption? This is an indication that the pronouncements about the fight against corruption is in words and not in reality. Lesa twafweni twapapata

@Iceberg, you are right. I do not understand how Miko can get drunk with power and forge that the people gave him the victory. Me I feel so bad that Miko can spit in the face of the lovely Zambians who voted for him barely a month in the office. Awe mwandi wht you said is true. I ve always doubt Mikos allergy for corruption coz he was part of the corrupt Gvt. I think the a goat in the sheeps skin will always be a goat.

Late former president Chiluba always stressed this point, I quote ” Mwebena Zambia mulalaba bwangu, so namulaba!” Its true we forget to easily. Where was MCS when Chungu was spy chief? Maybe if we recall where he was we may understand why he hard to give him a Job. So sad

This Xavier Chungu should stop making statements. Zambians know him as a criminal and not what he is trying to portray himself. If in the eyes of president Sata he is an angel, he is a villain in our view and by aligning himself with the president he is only serving to tarnish the president’s standing. He should with immediate effect stop to project himself as a public agent of this government. The president has already proved to be a listening leader by not proceeding to swear him as Luapula Province PS, following public disapproval of his appointment. If he feels the president is indebted to him, that is private. It shouldn’t be brought to our attention. Chungu should just respect the public opinion about him until he redeems himself in one way or another.

The only thing that the president must do is to squeez Xavier Chungu not to appoint him, because this man holds a hell of secret information, remember his post before. Maybe he may point out where the rest of the money they plundered is hidden!!!!

Pipo think we Zambians are fools. Its not the thief Chungu that made Sata win the elections but the Zambians that wanted change. So why reward a thief that stole Millions of Dollars. Does he think we have forgetten how the person he sent with US$2 Million was caught at an airport in Barbados. Who is the owner of Kansenshi hotel, flats in Belgium, please I know alot about this man called Chungu. His right place is in Jail if he does not return the money he stole.
Mr Sata don’t take people for granted, we are watching you. I sweeted for 10 years with PF and even lost my job now you appoint thieves. I dont wanta job but you to upload your promises.

Where it is allegedly true that Chungu might have stolen during his service to the Zambian people, it is also constructively vital to note that the nature of the position he held did not give him a chance to disobey his boss. In other words, it is the system of that time that was somewhat defective and it caused him to engage in acts that today are termed criminal.

Having said so, I find it to so unfair to condenmed someone for being loyal to his boss.
