Scandal ridden Football House is now in another financial scam with FAZ general secretary George Kasengele allegedly under investigations for failing to account for over K100 million.
This comes barely few days following bolayathu.com’s revelations that over K1 billion MTN sponsorship for the league had allegedly gone ‘missing’ in unexplained expenditure.
In the latest twist, an accounts clerk Chipalo Kabwe is already a victim and has since been suspended prompting the “spilling of the beans”.
FAZ committee member James Mpooma, who brought the latest glaring financial irregularities to the attention of bolayathu.com, has demanded the resignation of Kasengele as general secretary to pave way for investigations.
Mpooma, a co-opted FAZ member who came in after four others quit in October 2010 largely due to Kasengele’s alleged poor administrative style, said the financial scam that involves about K142 million has seen the suspension of Kabwe.
Kasengele declined to comment on the matter when bolayathu.com contacted him but threw the ball back to Mpooma saying the same executive committee member who had issued the statement seemed to have a lot of information about the issue than himself.
Speaking exclusively to bolayathu.com Mpooma confirmed investigations on Kasengele’s alleged financial indiscipline were underway.
“Yes, there is that issue and one person has been suspended …Chipalo but he has implicated other people among them the general secretary. It is not the first time that the GS’s name is coming up,” he said of Kasengele who has been linked to a stream of financial impropriety at Football House.
Mpooma’s discomfort with Kasengele is not strange among FAZ executive committee member.
Two years into his elections, vice president Emmanuel Munaile alongside Henschel Chitembeya, Pivoty Simwanza and Violet Bwalya quit the body due to similar reasons falling on Kasengele.
“I am of the view that he leaves office because there are a lot of mismanagements that have happened where we need to investigate him (Kasengele). That is when he can resume his duties if he is an honest person.”
He added: “There was money that was stolen and the guy who is alleged to have stolen the money was saying he was with other people and he has mentioned the GS.”
The Police Flying Eagles official said he had been forced to blow the whistle following incessant scandals laid on Kasengele’s doorstep.
“I am on record and demanding the suspension of the GS pending investigations of financial irregularities at Football House. Even if they say I am fired I do not care. The thing is I am not happy with what has been happening,” he said.
“We are investigating the issue but investigations cannot go on where other suspects are still in office. Meanwhile, I am calling for the stepping down of the GS to pave way for investigations. There are too
many issues where his name keeps coming up.”
Mpooma added: “As a law enforcer I would want the law enforcement agencies to move in and investigate the issues that are at hand. Yes the issue is there I am calling for his removal because a lot of affiliates have been complaining that he is not handling them well and they are his employers. For me I am uncomfortable staying with someone who is not handling things the right way. He should step down before he is embarrassed by the law enforcement agencies.”
FAZ is still grappling with questions over the expenditure of the K1 billion MTN money.

WE’VE BEEN ADVOCATING FOR GOVT’S INTEVENTION IN FAZ FOR TOO LONG. FORGET WHAT THEY TELL YOU ABOUT FIFA NOT ALLOWING GOVT INVOLVEMENT IN SOCCER, GRZ FUNDS FAZ AND NOT FIFA. ONLY TWO DAYS AGO THE SPORTS MINISTER DECRIED THE WAY THEY REPLACED BONETTI WITH RENARD WITHOUT NCSZ’s INVOLVEMENT. BUT IS COMPLAINING ALL THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THESE PEOPLE? IS FAZ IMMUNE TO CORPORATE MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY?

I like your stance Mr Mpooma, its people like you who will help this country to develop.Be it football, agriculture, engineering and whatever.lets stop this nonsense of hiding in the useless statement”I was forced to do it”.You cant be forced to do something you surely no that its wrong unless you have skeletons somewhere yourself. My fellow country men and women let stand up for what ios right always regarless of the consequecies that might follow.I have leant that the truth always stands tall than falsewood.Thumps up to you Mr Mpooma. You have just encouraged and inspired me today.Report these guys to the very able ACC,DEC and police and am sure you are better placed to to this since you an Officer yourself.I was realyy disturbed to hear that this year League Winners will only Get 50million kwacha as prize money coz of this corruption and Stealing

Whats Herve Renard’s salary?? $100,000!!!!!!! My foot. Not my hard earned PAYE please.
Please, please Hon. Shamenda, let Kalusha and his crew find the money to pay this guy.
We cannot and will not win anything with the current FAZ executive.
They use national team resources(our hard earned PAYE) in the name of promoting their own football academies.
Never in the history of this nation has FAZ been turned into a money spinner (for themselves) by this executive.
Where in the world should an executive hide the details of a sponsorship deal to the football clubs as well as the general public. And they have the audacity to say we need tax payers money????
We need total change this coming March 2012. Lets clean the FOOTBAL house with AJAX Cleanser.

FIFA SHOULD’NT SCARE US FROM DOING THE RIGHT THING. IF TAX PAYERS’ MONEY IS USED TO FUND THEM, ALL WE ASK IS TO SEE THAT THE MONEY IS UTILISED AS INTENDED. FIFA ONLY NEED GOVT INVOLVEMENT IN SOCCER WHEN IT SUITS THEM, AND THIS MUST END. I REMEMBER A WHOLE LIST OF GUARANTEES THAT THEY DEMANDED FROM THE SOUTH AFRICAN GOVT TO ENSURE THE SUCCESSFUL HOSTING OF THE WORLD CUP, SO WHY GOVT’S ALSO ENSURE THAT THE MONEY THEY PUMP INTO FOOTBALL ASSOCIATIONS IS SPEND WISELY AND FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE GAME?

Iwe Walid you are dull, even when you’ve seen irregularities but you are still praising the thieves. If they have stollen then they should be accountable for their actions. These guys can’t do anything good at Football House than stealing.
No wonder kalu and his minions wants to cling on to those positions, they don’t have any source of income, nomba balamwenako ZP do your job guys.
