AUSTIN Liato’s ‘THUGS’ Brutally MANHANDLE Journalists As Court Grants Him K50 Million BAIL

Liato's face being covered Thursday 12/1!

Sympathizers-cum-thugs of former Labour Minister Austin Liato brutally descended on journalists at the Lusaka Magistrate Court on Thursday 12/1.

The assailants who were in the company of suspected MMD cadres led the onslaught on journalist after Mr Liato appeared for plea.

Meanwhile Mr. Liato has pleaded not guilty to the charge of receiving stolen property.

This is after Mr Liato took plea before Chief Resident Magistrate Joshua Banda.

Particulars of the offense are that Mr Liato between September, 1 and November, 24 allegedly received 2.1 billion Kwacha knowing it was feloniously obtained.

He has however been granted 50 Million Kwacha cash bail with two working sureties in their own recognisance.

Mr Liato has also been ordered to surrender his passport to the court as part of the bail conditions.

Magistrate Banda granted Mr Liato bail following an applications by defence lawyer, Nelly Mutti.

Ms Mutti contended that Mr Liato’s charge was bailable and that he was of fixed abode.

Mr Liato is remanded in custody until he fulfills the bail conditions.

These suspected MMD sympathizers seem to be relatives to Liato. MMD has suspended Liato and only relatives or would be beneficiaries in the K2.1 billion would behave as those people with Liato at the court. There seem to be little truth in assuming they are MMD people.

There should be no excuse for failing to arrest Liato’s thugs. They must be brought to book at all costs. Liato should not start employing Mafia tactics in Zambia. He should know that this government is under PF and his thugs will pay dearly for harassing journalists.

The police some times amazes me. Honestly how can they allow such lawlessness to take place in their full view?
Those thugs should face the wrath of the law. We can not allow such nonsens in the country.
We have had VIPs before who have appeared at the curts and never did we see this kind of behavior from relatives.
How can they even threaten to beat up the police offer?
Let them be charged. Nangu kulyamo, sure it was too much.

Kimasholi, William Banda, Liato, Dora Bokosi Siliti (who also buried her stolen billions in her 19 year old son)and others are yet to be known. Just Wait patiently the PF is working. Even if those other MMD thiefs have not yet been caught, we, the owners of the money, are very confident with the way HE the President and his hardworking team are working. Keep it up Bekateni ba mukukulu, ba pompwe

the big question is: Why planting CASH crop instead of planting the grains. Liato thought the CASH crop he planted was going to germinate and grow into trees of more CASH? SHAME! we have proved that MMD was there to finish our economy. The law should surely follow them ba Pompwe.SHAME, SHAME na futi na futi.

    December 2, 2011 at 2:58 pm

When I coined my title above, I had an inkling that the MMD were abusing funds from the national treasury, but I could not imagine the scale! Liato MUST be convicted without fail. The criminal even brings a crowd of thugs to court to harrass journalists and the inept cops were just watching? It is unbelieveable that a thief who has stolen from us can even assume he has right to privacy pertaining to justice in his robbing of the Zambians! Liatos supporters who have been arrested must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and MUST also serve custodial sentences. The crimes that Liato and the likes of him have committed against the poor Zambians are unforgivable and can only be compared to Kashiwa Bulayas’ diverting of HIV/AIDS funds to himself! Ki Liato lisholi!
