MUTEMBO Nchito Takes Over LIATO’s K2.1 Billion Case, As He Pleads NOT GUILTY
Director of Public Prosecutions Mutembo Nchito has taken over the prosecution of the K2.1 billion case involving former Labour Minister Austin Liato and has since named state advocates Simon Tembo and S. Sumbukeni as other members of the prosecution team.
And Mr. Liato has pleaded not guilty to one count of being in possession of property suspected to have been stolen.
The former labour minister in the Rupiah Banda government is charged with being in possession of property suspected of being proceeds of crime contrary to section 71 subsection one of the forfeiture of proceeds of crime Act number 19 0f 2010 of the Laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that on November 24, 2011, Mr. Liato 46 did possess and conceal money amounting to K2.1 billion on his Farm number L. Mpamba 44 in Mwembeshi reasonably suspected of being proceeds of crime.
QFM News reports that Principal Resident Magistrate Aridah Chulu has since adjourned the matter to tomorrow for commencement of trial.

Viva Mutambo, the chap has to be prosecuted no mercy, we have plenty of banks why burying money if he genuinely acquired it as he claims. fire, we want a corrupt free nation, were plunderers will have no space.

We thank God that Mutembo Nchito was ractified by Parliament at the right time so that he can deal with such serious cases by the Movement for Mandrax Dealers for their stealing. Honestly speaking do you need to study Law to know that Liato stole and as such must account for the money he burried? to start with, why burry money which you have genuinely acquired? secondly what sort of business gobbled him all that sum of money? why didn’t he deposite it into a bank to earn interest? this is what we voted for, BRAVO his Excellency the president for seeing potential in Mutembo. Let this be a warning to George and Situmbeko that MUTEMBO IS NOW ON THE PROSECUTION PANEL? ensure that you didnt do any NJOMBA! WAPYA MUNZI!

This is too simple a case to have the entire DPP involved. Even treason cases involving many people are assigned to seniour prosecutors who are not in short supply at the DPP’s chambers. Maybe NCHITO is paying back for the excess pay given to him by Mwanawasa.

This Liato story makes me mad all over again…why didnt he go on a donating spree? you should have bought beds for uth, blankets for clinics around the country and bought houses ku komboni for your workers…surely us the public would have known whats up but we would have pulled a donchi kubeba on your ass pantu ninshi naifwe twa benefitter. u should have improved the kitchens at uth( renovated them,hired chefs and all) trust me you would have gotten away with your crime one time..You people didnt even know there were kitchens at UTH te?
