President Michael Sata has directed the Zambia Police to provide maximum security to Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni people in Eastern province.
This follows alleged threats of violence against chief Mpezeni from Chiefs Madzimawe and Zamane after he openly called for the lifting of former President Rupiah Banda’s immunity to allow him to clear himself against the corruption allegations.
The President says Paramount Chief Mpezeni just like any other citizen has a right to speak out on issues affecting the Zambians.
President Sata says he may consider revoking the recognition of Chiefs Madzimawe and Zamane should they continue threatening violence against Paramount Chief Mpezeni.
President Sata has since asked the minister of Justice Sebastian Zulu to write to the two subordinate chiefs warning them against their unlawful activities.
QFM News reports that the president was speaking at State house this morning during a swearing in ceremony for government and diplomatic officials.
And President Michael Sata has urged the newly appointed diplomats to ensure they exhibit exemplary behavior at their respective missions abroad.
The head of State revealed that former diplomats are resisting coming back because some of them have acquired loans from the foreign countries.
He said the newly appointed diplomats should only get loans locally to avoid putting the Zambian government in an embarrassing position with its co-operating partners.
Those sworn-in include Susan Sikaneta and Reverend Edith Mutale as high commissioner to India and ambassador to Sweden respectively.
Others are Bob Samakai as high commissioner to Canada, Judith Kapijimpanga as high commissioner to Tanzania, while Fedelis Kapoka is Zambia’s ambassador to the democratic Republic of Congo.
The president has also sworn-in Dorothy Kazunga and Bert Mushala as deputy minister in the ministry of community development mother and child Health and north- western Province permanent secretary respectively.
The president has since urged Ms. Kazunga to work towards improving the health facilities in the country.
He said he decided to appoint another deputy minister in the ministry of community development because of its mammoth task to spearhead community development programmes countrywide.

‘President Sata says he may consider revoking the recognition of Chiefs Madzimawe and Zamane should they continue threatening violence against Paramount Chief Mpezeni’
Now thats uncalled for, harrasing or threatening chiefs in this manner is totally unacceptable. He appointed a chief on behalf of chitimukulu but not all regions will take such behaviour kindly. let Sata not be fooled by people surrounding him showing him blind loyalty.

If only Mpezeni could behave like other chiefs such nonsense in the name of threats from other chiefs can be avoided. All chiefs must be non partisan. Now that some chiefs are turning into cadres what more their subjects, its a sad development.

Chief Mpezeni those are your subordinates and you need to sit down and dialogue with them other than reporting to the President. The question is, when are you going to speak eye to eye with your subordinates? N’cwala ceremony is just round the corner and you need them in organizing the ceremony successfully. NO TEETH!!!!

Mpezeni was not suppose to comment on the lifting of RB’s immunity. Leave politics to politicians.Yours is to ensure well being of your subjects.
Find out what your people are lacking ( Good roads,Clean drinking water, food security,Good Health centres, Schools etc.
Offer leadership interms of conflict resolutions among Subjects.
This also goes to Madzhimawe and Zamane. Stop politics and concentrate on your duties.
What is wrong with out chiefs these days?

Couldn’t agree with you any more…it’s high time these so-called chiefs, relics of a bygone era, are put in place -ie history books and museums!! These people have no democratic mandate and hence accountable to no one yet make constant (and usually unrealistic) demands from central govt!!

Iwe@True Bantustans please we have said from time to time that regardless of your political affiliation, tribe or age. Please have some respect for the Head of State twapapata. You can’t address the Head of State as you wrote that is total disrepectiful even if you are drunk to your lungs you need to leave some room for respect. I am not related to the Head of State am not even in politics but your language was out order and you should never say what you said again. Articulate issues for our leaders to pick up one or two ideas and also for Tumfweko members to learn, not the rubbish you wrote. Stop that nonsense and have respect. Even when the term of office for HEMC comes to an end and someone else comes in whether you like him or not noone will support your bad language towards the high office. You are the people the security wing should be tracking for your evil and ill language and bring you to book. Lets just air out our views with normal language, ok!

We have all heard chief Nalubamba voice out his opinion and noone has threatened him. Why can’t Mpezeni also voice out his opinion? Equally chief Madzimawe and Nzamane were also just expected to add their opposing views or opinions without threatening violence. And to crown it all, HEMCS was also just expected to advise them to live in peace and harmony and remind them that each one of them as free citizens, has a right to their opinions without threatening to revoke their recognition. Three wrongs can surely not make even half a right. MWIKALA PATALALA MWINE APATALALIKA.

January 26, 2012 at 3:53 am
The ngoni pipo and easterners are not happy with thier paramount chief, and this time around they are ready to expose him to the whole zambians.who he is and what he is.they defended him in all his mistakes but he has never represented them apart from putting his interest first.he wants favours from the president by selling his own junjors with force information.we know too much but we respect him.but if he forces us to expose him, well an good.let him and the president continue to fight nzamane and madzimawe.tumfweko.we will spill the beans and the whole zambia will know the real him and no 1 will ever respect him.so leave the 2 ngoni chiefs alone.pliz ba sata find out the whole truth.coz it will be difficult to revearse ur statement if u find out the real issue here.wait and see.

True Bantustan,
the majority of Zambians have just experienced the change they so much longed for. In fact most of those in MMD (except the plunderers) are happy with the changes we are enjoying. So be informed that there will be no so-called “real change” in the near future bwana. HH’s fortunes are water under the bridge so just learn to put up with the current regime or else you will die of depression.
