BREAKING NEWS!! MMD De-Registered As Political Party

The Movement for Multi Party Democracy-MMD has been de-registered by the Registrar of Societies for non compliance with the Societies Act.

Chief Registrar of Societies, Clement Andeleki says this means the former ruling party ceases to operate as a political party in Zambia and it has lost all the fifty three seats in parliament.

Mr. Andeleki says the action arises from the non payment of statutorily fees amounting over three hundred and ninety million Kwacha.

He made the announcement at a press briefing at the Ministry of Home Affairs Headquarters this morning.

Mr. Andeleki says the decision has been taken after several reminders from the time the MMD was in government.

And Mr Andeleki says he will be writing to the Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini to inform him about the de-registration of the MMD.

He has warned erring registered organisations, Churches, NGOs and political parties to be legally compliant with the Societies Act if they are to continue operating in Zambia.

African leaders, all what Sata wants is messing up this good country, we will not allow it. Zambians it is time you started waking up and refuse evil in this great nation. This is a very beautifull country which selfish people like the current president wants to destroy. you promised jobs and yet you are importing chickens. God forbid. Just look at what is happening with the PF cadres. They are like wild dogs on the ground, all the thieves have become pf cadres. shame.

The Presido will intervene in a show of democracy and he will ask the registrar of societies to allow them a grace period before being deregistered. MMD ruled with impunity and now they are dancing to their own sins. How can any reasonable person accuse HEMCS for the MMD not paying the statutory fees for registration renewal of their association? It is important to allow the law to take its course as the MMD can appeal against deregistration, by making good on the due statutory fees. MMD has been run by MAFIAS who only believed in collecting money from corrupt contractors for personal aggrandisememnt fosaking all others, even their own party! SHAME ON RUPIAH, GEORGE KUNDA, DORA, SHIKAPWASHA, MUTATI, NAMUGALA, MAXWELL MWALE, MUSOKOTWANE ET AL! What were you looking at in your MMD NEC FINANCIAL REPORTS, if you could not even pay statutory fees? Selfishness can actually make one look stup!d.

That is what abusers can do. They even abused the simple Societies Act by not submitting annual returns which even small one NGOs do. Let the party go. I am sure UPND and NAREP will capture some of these constituencies in the by-elections.

Ok MMD we will ask, what were you thinking to let the fees go that high. Maybe you thought you would rule forever and ever Amen.
In Gorilla warfare we call this to be sitting ducks, or to be caught napping or to be caught pants down, you name it. Now you are at the mercy of the ruling party. This is not a situation to be in as the main opposition party (or we say the formar main opposition party).

@ nationalist – it is the principle we are concerned with here. if it takes K106bn to sort out principles as far as political parties are concerned, then we would be investing in a more democratic, accountable political playing field which your great grand children will benefit from.

That’s it for MMD – can someone please order the tombstone from Ideal Funeral parlour please!!!!

who are calling PF and BEMBAS names,PF and BEMBAS has nothing to do with de-registration of MMD as a political party,a lot people in mmd now are nothing but intruders who cared about nothing but there pockets
more money in their pockets.its like failing to service the vehicle which makes money for your survival.

Excuse me you loud-mouth, brainless PF cadres! If I am not mistaken, your beloved Sata was number 3 of this apparent party of ‘theives’ for a good part of 10 years that these fes weren’t paid! Why was he not saying anything the? We all know that he left the party very sour only because he didn’t inherit it from FTJ (mhrip)!
He is just as full of sh!t as any other MMD guy… worse infact!

And they shouted “GIVE US BARRABUS!!! AS FOR JESUS CRUCIFY HIM!!!!!”

Zambiana I have not seen anything announced by the president but by Andeleki1 why should we tolerate thuggery/breaking the Law? if one breaks the Law let them pay for that! I have been following this issue for some time now and it seems our politicians in the MMD never took this matter seriously because they got so used with stealing and abusing authority to a point that they forgot to do the right thing. If they have to be de-registered let it be. and this goes for all of us with to ma organisations to give ceaser what belongs to ceaser period!

This country has got laws to govern every institution and individuals. No one is above the law, there should be no animals more equal than others especially when in power. Lets face realities here. How do you expect PACRA to survive? this used to happen to several institutions e.g water & sewerage company, the government never used to pay for water.2billion burried yet they owe PACRA, i call this negligence, and i find no reason to blame Mr Michael. These guys were warned.

Nationalist your observation is correct from the financial stand point. However, there is more if you open your eyes that we need as a country. Its a moral reform. This has deprived parastatals of the much needed income to remain operational and hence collapse. This has also driven corruption to mountain heights. Its this same focus on money more than morals to drive money. So once again Sir lets be objective and not comment based on party affiliations. If MMD were not paying and this is against the law let them be deregistered because they disrepsected the law with impunity with focus like you on money.
