Seek Avenues To Restore Your Legal Status, MMD Told

The Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has advised the de-registered MMD to seek other avenues that will help restore the legality of the party.

SACCORD information officer Obby Chibuluma observes that having about 53 parliamentary and over 100 local government by-elections would cost the country a lot of resources at the expense of attaining national development.

Mr. Chibuluma notes that the law allows the MMD to be heard by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the courts of law for possible quashing of the decision that has been handed by the registrar of societies.

He argues that it is therefore misleading for the Chief registrar of societies Clement Andeleki to claim that he has nullified the 53 parliamentary seats following the de-registration of the MMD.

Mr. Chibuluma says it will be up to the Speaker of National Assembly to determine whether the Parliamentary seats held by the MMD should be nullified.

Mr. Chibuluma has since told QFM that it is therefore important that the MMD and the Registrar of Societies dialogue over the K390 million owed by the former ruling party in form of returns.

He notes that de-registering the MMD will weaken the opposition a situation he says is not good for the country%u2019s democracy.

The MMD de-registration story makes a sad reading.
I wonder what was going through the minds of the MMD leadership to have decided to ignore the legal requirement of tax returns. Taxes are a public money and MMD used their position to commit thefty by public servant.
worse still, after the law has caught them with their pants down, they [MMD] wantto take a confrotational stance of taking demonstrations! Demonstrate against what? Very soon prisoners will ask to demonstrate against their jail sentences if we will allow this kind of stupidity.
We are told that there are some briliant legal minds minds in MMD, where were they in order for them not to have given legal advice to their beloved party? Are they legal minds or criminal minds? BA KUNDA!
UPND, NAREP, PF and others paid their dues, whats special with MMD?

What the MMD party should realize is that, they are no longer in power to control the legal requirement for paying tax, for over 20 yrs they have been in power could do everything they wanted, let them not climb the mountain and shout on top of their voices, but humble themselves and pay their dues. We already are poor we cannot afford to go for 53 by-elections.

Its a pity that MMD and indeed UPND can not see that this is a BIG opportunity for them to save our country from the current polar situation. The two political parties and the others in parliament can simply resign to create a situation where a general election can be necessitated.
Zambia can be saved through this move. All those condemning the MMD should realize that this is one of the moves by PF to weaken the opposition which Sata says is lead by thieves.
We cant continue to have a situation where a tribal grouping can continue to dominate and trying to justify wrong.
VIVA OPPOSITION here is a golden opportunity for us to go for fresh election which PF will definetely lose.

If ba MMD do not pay up and make this right, it will be a clear acknowledgement that they CANNOT BE TRUSTED and have not changed AT ALL.. How can they even ask for people to vote for them if they can be so reckless. As a responsible party remotely sorry about their past mistakes, and sincerely mean that they have changed, then I pray that they show the voters by taking responsibility to pay the bill. Dorah Siliya, how can you even ask women to go undress when you ALONE can very well and responsibly avoid that by footing the bill alone. This will not make a dent in your pocket BUT can you imagine how much it will economically affect those naked women and their families who rely on government assistaance through better education, health, rural road networks, the list is endless. You know better, you have been a minister before and if you trully mean what you say every time a mic is near your mouth, do the RIGHT THING….ba MMD show us that you are really better than PF…empathise with the poor, your voters…
