The Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has advised the de-registered MMD to seek other avenues that will help restore the legality of the party.
SACCORD information officer Obby Chibuluma observes that having about 53 parliamentary and over 100 local government by-elections would cost the country a lot of resources at the expense of attaining national development.
Mr. Chibuluma notes that the law allows the MMD to be heard by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the courts of law for possible quashing of the decision that has been handed by the registrar of societies.
He argues that it is therefore misleading for the Chief registrar of societies Clement Andeleki to claim that he has nullified the 53 parliamentary seats following the de-registration of the MMD.
Mr. Chibuluma says it will be up to the Speaker of National Assembly to determine whether the Parliamentary seats held by the MMD should be nullified.
Mr. Chibuluma has since told QFM that it is therefore important that the MMD and the Registrar of Societies dialogue over the K390 million owed by the former ruling party in form of returns.
He notes that de-registering the MMD will weaken the opposition a situation he says is not good for the country%u2019s democracy.

Yes the man should have just ended up de-registering the party the rest of the story remains the work of the speaker of the National Assembly

I strongly agree with you Mr. Chibuluma. I think its important that we always use right channels of addressing our grievances unlike what this Bokosi lady is trying to do (lure the youths into demonstrations). I think as Zambians let us reach a point where “we will call a spade a spade and not a big spoon”. Andeleki also why go beyond your parameters? nullifying the seats of 53 MPs, aaaaaaaaaaah isn’t that the work of the Speaker of the National Assembly? MMD there is nothing to worry about if you did the correct thing!

The registra of society have no absolute powers to nullify the seats in parliament this is the problem of working under directives they end up over doing it so that they can please their boss, this is substandard performers, she as gone to deep to leave in the powers of the president on top, who is she to over power the speaker of the National assambly, she as gone beyond her parameters. It is good to give her a new job description may be were she was working were no parameters.Consult your juniors you will lose nothing when you head if pluck.

Simple Maths 53 MPs X K7.5 million will clear the bill. Lets see the true Blues now. Coz what boggles some 1′s mind is the pomp and flash shown in the last campaign Tripartite elections. Why is it so difficult to difficult to shore up resources to bail themselves out. Ku konda ku dyamo thats why they a tight with their purses. Otherwise balamumyankula Ub history. Mr Andeleki is litsening from a voice somewhere. 2 bad guys ba MMD!

MMD did the same to Fr. Bwalya – got him out of his company on such a technicality. Do unto others.
But I agree with Chibuluma – seek legal means to void huge costs of by-election or possible dissolution of parliament. We need bridges, we need medical services, we need better schools and not more by-elections. There are a lot of Robianas out there that need to be saved.

Imweee! It is already a weak opposition even before this. How do you allow illigalities in the name of strength. What buulshit is this. How do derive strength from breaking the law that strength govenance. Are you pipo saying illigall organisations must spring up to offer opposition? No! hell NO! Those who want to participate in the governance of this great nation should do it in the confines of the law. MMD is gone and the issue should be prosecuted as well.

Is Andelaki male or female? I’v read references of “she” and “he”
This name if anything should have been on headlines many years ago. Where was it when MMD was not remitting the funds for so long. Someone there if not Andeleki “itself” should be fired for incompetence. It hasn’t been doing it’s job.

If things fail, there is always plan B. Re -register the same party quickly under a different name e.g. “New MMD” & forfeit the 53 seats. you can still be voted back if you are popular in your constituency. Although it wil be costly.

MMD is testing its own mankwala. MMD committed a lot of evil during their tenure hence they forgot to do the needful. Not long ago NAPSA set bailiffs on them for non payment of rentals. Secondly, they even failed to settle a loan from ZANACO and the farm for the late L. General Christon Tembo which was used as collateral was at verge of seizure. MMD has a history of being a bunch of crooks. If MMD has been paying and submitting returns then there is no need to go to court but submit proof of payment to the Registrar. Hats off to the Registrar he shd also check UPND

Good comments. The Registra may have no powers over the seats, but he definately has powers to deregister associations. Right now MMD is deregistered and is operatin illegally in Zambia. Do you know the implication of that? These laws were made by the same MMD. Sata left MMD 11 years ago, he can not be an excuse now, unless PF is also not submitting returns.
In fact annual returns fees is jst K100,000, but the MMD created penalty of millions if an NGO default in order to punish voca NGOs. They forgot the same bad law will catch up with them. This should give the country a chance to review this law. Let us have reasonable penalties to avoid such predicaments.

Mwe bantu Andeleki did not say that he has nullified parliamentary seats, he just stated that he has written to inform the speaker of the National Assembly for possible nullification of parliamentary seats.
MMD are just a bunch of mafias trying to bring despondency in the country. MMD should listen to wise words from Mr Chibuluma to appeal through the Ministry of Home Affairs with proposed remedial action to pay up the dues. Once this is rejected by the ministry, that is when we should start screaming ‘IT IS POLITICAL!’ NOT NOW, and this is neither the correct time for Dora to be mobilising MMD youths to demonstrate either. The money Dora wants to spend on transporting youths to demonstarte should be given to the secretariat to start making part payments to PACRA. Dora should be mobilising the legal team and giving statements of confidence to MMD members that NEC is doing the best to regain the legal status for the MMD. Can’t Dora take off her evil manipulation and machinations for once?

the fundamental questions are:
1. is the registrar of societies in order to de-register MMD on premise of defaulting? the registrar of societies did not nullify seats in parliament he only made an intepretation corresponding with his decision for the betterment of our understanding.
MMD remember when you were chanting degree clause thing in NCC? engineering deportation of opposition leaders from neighbouring countries? the bible says you ripe what you sow!! it looks to me that time has caught up with you!!

Why are you crying over deregistration of MMD? Go back to the constitution and the laws of the land. If they haven’t paid the Chief registrar of societies has by law got the powers to do what he did. The Parliament issues will follow in accordance to the law so why bother. If MMD wants to challenge this let them go to court that is why we have the judicially.
Those who want to undress let them tell us where they are going to do that so that we can go there and have some X-certificate for free and judge if they still have some good structures remaining on them; structures wealthy talking about.
