TB Joshua – The Bigger Picture( THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY)

Although the Almighty has no need of human trumpeters to defend His own, recent subjective media reports have compelled me to comment on the ongoing and contentious issue of Prophet T.B. Joshua, a name that can’t seem to leave the news since his well-publicized prophecy concerning the sudden demise of Malawi’s President Bingu wa Mutharika. My purpose of writing this is not in any way an attempt to ascribe glory where it is not due or put any man on a pedestal he has no right to ascend. I simply wish to share my personal convictions on this issue in an attempt to correct the erroneous judgements formulated by many based on isolated incidents and doctored media reports, as opposed to seeing the bigger picture within the boundaries of context and consistency.
Firstly, the sudden flurry of online reports pertaining to T.B. Joshua supposedly being banned from Cameroon, aside from being blown unnecessarily out of proportion, is a case of irresponsible journalism. The said communiqué was actually released almost two years ago in September 2010, the issues therein which I addressed in an article titled, ‘The T.B. Joshua Phenomenon in Cameroon.’ Mr. Ayissi has since left his post as Foreign Minister, partially due to the negative backlash from the people to this notice. The said communiqué has done little to discourage the flow of Cameroonians to The SCOAN, as any viewer of Emmanuel TV or visitor to The SCOAN will attest to. I am a Cameroonian myself and can safely say that T.B. Joshua is still a phenomenon in my country, his popularity and patronage showing no signs of waning. As my neighbour told me last week, “This man makes God popular,” with homes across the nation literally glued to Emmanuel TV every Sunday.
T.B. Joshua’s prophetic ministry has been the subject of extensive media attention of late, with derisive questions asked of both the subject matter of his predictions and the vague parabolic language often used. Coming from a background of scientific study and spiritual apathy, I do understand such mindsets. When I first heard Joshua’s prophecies, I was initially sceptical due to the hazy terminology of some coupled with the view that they could be related to multiple circumstances. However, consider the consistency of accuracy of his words over several years, amidst the boldness to make such proclamations in public on a live television broadcast. Such declarations, with subsequent events confirming their accuracy, cannot be the mere product of human trickery, especially in consideration of the specific details and dates given on numerous occasions.
However, the main thrust of this piece is to look at these prophecies in the context of other happenings in The SCOAN, hoping that such will provide a platform to sufficiently indicate the source of Joshua’s predictions. Take for instance the manner in which T.B. Joshua prophesies to individuals in his church services every Sunday. It is simply astounding! The depth of detail, reactions of the individuals concerned and their accompanying confirmations/ testimonies are all too numerous and pin-pointedly accurate to be classed as fake or fraudulent. Even Ghana’s respected leader, John Atta Mills, publicly testified that Joshua prophesied specific details of his three-round election victory and ascension to power in 2008. I challenge anyone who claims the origin of such are the clever manipulative whims of a con man to watch any live Sunday Service broadcast on Emmanuel TV and subsequently argue their point.
The words of a man do much to reveal the internal workings of his heart. I have carefully listened to and examined Prophet T.B. Joshua’s messages for several years and find them spiritually enriching, biblically sound and replete with practical truths of life. Unlike his counterparts in the vineyard, many of whom have publicly denounced him, his messages do not condemn, vilify or produce inter-religious tension. He teaches in ways that people can understand, relate to and apply into their daily lives and situations, stressing on the importance of love and being a Christian in action and not mere confession. I have sat and watched Emmanuel TV with respected Bible scholars who have marvelled at the simplicity, authority and practicality of his teaching.
The SCOAN demonstrates practical and biblical Christianity; the fruits speak for themselves. Marriages on the brink of divorce are reunited; families torn apart by wild accusations are reconciled; armed robbers, prostitutes and militants are rehabilitated. The rejected and neglected in society are provided for. What of the deliverance each and every Sunday? I have never witnessed deliverance of its type, a situation where individuals sitting down calmly in church will, upon prayer, suddenly grow aggressive and confess all nature of atrocities. Their ensuing testimonies and life experiences tell of inexplicable bondage and the joy and peace experienced following their visit to SCOAN.
In the midst of this, five ministers of God have been raised up under Prophet T.B. Joshua, performing miracles, releasing prophecies, ministering deliverance and preaching the Word in a strikingly and similarly powerful vein. Known as the ‘Wise Men’, they stand, for me, as the greatest attestation to the authenticity of Joshua’s ministry and calling. For the gift of God in his life to be imparted to others, it testifies of a legacy that will live on long after Joshua has left.
As many may insinuate, this is not a cheap publicity stunt for the church. I am simply encouraging people not to come to a quick conclusion on Prophet T.B. Joshua based on hearsay, rumours or isolated media reports with politically motivated undertones. On Sunday 6th May 2012, Prophet T.B. Joshua said, “The consistency of what you are doing confirms the genuineness of your calling.” To my mind, the test and testimony of time has spoken strongly to reveal Joshua is doing the work of His Father above. Perhaps we really do have a Prophet in our midst.

This is THE best piece of writing ever on tumfweko! What a great read!! For thoes asking why footbal nd why bad news etc,u conform to exactly what the writer is discouraging. Who made rules for prophesy? So what if its bad news? Does tht make it any less of a prophecy? Have u read up on all the other prophecies apart from the few the media are suddenly broadcasting and hammering on? Are u sure that all the prophesies in the Bible where always good news? What do u hv to loose by hearing his teachings? God works in mysterious ways, nd the devil works in underhanded ways…u find ur self full of Tb Joshua hatred for no good reason except that he is a false prophet…nd ur proof?

    Indeed! Good literature here.
Sadly, TBJ is mostly attacked by both charismatic & docile men of God whose Sunday or Sabbath services are but a grown- up version of a Sunday or Sabbath kindergarten recitals of the existence of God. That they see signs & wonders following their colleague, envy sets in. My dear pastor elder kangalila the Bishop! Its time you asked God to use you also in a mighty way.

The SDA folowers they atack Tb Joshua & say he is a false prophet. Wat abt their little known & self proclaimed false prophetess Ellen G White, they consider her writing the same as the Bible. Watchout she was one of the false prophetes who has made all members of SDA LOST.

Given the support that prophets get, I see myself becoming one.But do we really need one? I thought the bible has been written already and chapter is closed we are just waiting for the son of man to judge, after all nobody knows when is gonna show up, nor the angels and not even the son himself but only the father.

Well spoke, may i ask one question even if Christ came today and said He is Jesus Christ how many of you would believe Him…..none. Some of you would even demand for a DNA test. It is not for us to investigate if TB Joshua is truly a Prophet or not, what criteria will we will to determine that. We will use our human thinking and these are not human matters but spiritual matters. To all those condemning the Man of God, you will reap what you sow. I never used to believe what he used to do until I listened to his messages, he is truly sent by God.

Indeed this article has put everything into its proper context as who Prophet TB Joshua is as far as God is concerned – an annointed worker of God – whose mission is to carry out Jesus’ Great Commission. Shame on you doubting thomases. God will really continue uplifting him while you keep on closing your eyes and ears to the truth.

Eric, in your article you have said lots of things that reveal your ignorancy of Gods word.
    1. You say the man makes God popular. Thats heresy! God is omnipotent. No workings of man can add anything to the greatness of God.
    2. You say just because Joshua is revired by politicians like President John Atta so the man is truely a prophet of God. Rubbish! Lucifier had the backing of one third of heavenly angels (superior beings than us) but that didnt make his evil skims right.
    3. T B Joshua’s words reveal the internal works of “his heart”. I thot the words of man of God are surposed to reveal the internal works of Christ.
    4. He imparts the gifts of God on his wise men. Heresy! The bible says the Holy Spirit, not mortal man, imparts spiritual gifts to men.
    5. The legacy of T B Joshua will live longer after he is gone. Rubbish! Christianity survives on the legacy of Christ not T B Joshua. Christ is the truth. As long as Christ lives, true religion will always exist on earth.

This is fantastic, a well researched piece of work on the man of God. The author of this Letter has very much impressed me, because through his knowledge and true wisdom, he has exactly described the Man of God in a very spiritual and prophetic manner. Do not be bothered by these disgruntled critics whom i may describe as pagans in the wilderness. Remember, a Prophet is not usually popular in his home country so does TB Joshua.

Please guys let us reflect much on the bible prophecy which was prophecised by Jesus Christ himself. Here The Lord Jesus plainly warns us Christians to be ware of false prophets who comes to us in sheep clothing but inside they are wolves. Mind you these are last days. We all expect false prophets to come. Remember that in the past our fore fathers were promised a Messaih, when he came many doubted him. The same way, we told that false prophets will come and some people are still doubting. Please lets pray that we are not deceived by these so called prophets. We have the bible. I think the bible is more than enough to give us imfo about God.

Well, i watched his entire service last sunday. Of course the major issue was him refuting media reports all around the which falsely quoted him to have said that Chelsea would win the Champions League. Am surprised Tumfweko and ZWD didnt carry this because they both reported the chelsea prophecy. Anyway, he denied ever saying it and also asked his flock if he did, to which they replied no. He said because his name had been slandered he prayed to god to reveal the actual game to him so that he can prove to the world that he has conversations with god. He said he watched the first half in full and although he didnt finish it coz he had to come to church and didnt know the final score what he saw was that chelsea were in big problems. What he saw was a goal against chelsea in the first half which was scored by a ”bold headed man” (i guess thats arjen robben) and was assisted by a ”black man”(am guessing Boatang). He further said that he was not saying chelsea wil lose but they would be in trouble in the first half. Am just waiting 4 this prophecy. Amen. With love, Sunta.
