A ONE-YEAR and seven months-old baby of Chibombo district has reunited with its parents after being stolen from its mother in January last year. The baby went missing on January 19, 2018 around 21:20 hours at John Chinena market, where its mother, Peggy Chonya, 28, of Luzeni village in Chief Liteta’s area, sells vegetables. Central Province Commissioner of Police Chola Katanga said in an interview yesterday that Sofina Malupande, 25, of Kapiri Mposhi, who allegedly stole the infant, has been detained at Prospect Police Station.
“The child was stolen at John Chinena market, where the mother was selling vegetables. The child went missing when she was one month and two weeks old,” Mr Katanga said.
Police received information on the whereabouts of the child on Thursday and officers trailed the suspect, who was found near Mukobeko in Kabwe with the baby. Mr Katanga said police are still investigating the matter
