The Zambia Revenue Authority has not fired 40 of its members of staff as alleged by some Tabloids on social media but only asked 23 of its members of staff to resign due to fake and forged documents.

A reliable source from the Zambia Revenue Authority has disclosed that those who were asked to resign were told to do so after an internal audit was conducted on the institution and 23 members of staff were found with fake and forged academic qualifications and have been working at the institution.

Further, 31 officers have been fired since January 2019 for fraud in domestic taxes and for facilitating smuggling in the customs department.

The source further disclosed that about 46 clearing licenses will be revoked for involving themselves in smuggling.

Social media was set ablaze with a Fabricated story suggesting that the Zambia Revenue authority has illegally demised 40 of its workers .
