A 63 year old man of Mfwela village in Ikelenge District has been killed in an explosion.
Northwestern Province Commissioner of Police Hudson Namachila confirmed the incident saying this happened when the deceased attempted to extract mercury from the explosive for business purposes.
Mr Namachila said the deceased identified as Seulu Lifuta was killed instantly by a rocket propelled grenade after he and five others tempered with the explosive.
The police chief said the deceased whose body was badly mutilated in the incident which took place on January 13, 2020 has since been buried.
Mr Namachila disclosed that the deceased along with five others, on dates unknown, illegally crossed into Angola where they allegedly acquired three rocket propelled grenades for mercury business.
He said the suspects have since been apprehended in connection with the incident and are detained at Ikelenge police station while others are on the run.
