Mines Expert Urges Govt To Quickly Act On Over Stressed Ndola Lime

Mines Expert and lecturer at the Copperbelt University Professor Peter Chileshe has urged government to swallow its pride and accept the reality on the ground over the stressed Ndola Lime company.
Professor Chileshe said he is very concerned with the pace at which government through ZCCM Investments Holdings is moving with the process of setting up strategies aimed at ensuring a turnaround for Ndola Lime.
On Tuesday, ZCCM Investments Holdings disclosed that its Overall profit for 2019 declined by 47 Percent compared to 2018 mainly due to loss making subsidiaries such as Investrust Bank and Ndola Lime.
And reacting to the development, Professor Peter Chileshe who is a senior Lecturer in the school of mines at Copperbelt University said government need to come at stage where it will accept that Ndola lime will not be valuable and find ways of reorganize the company into a workable format by first redeploying the workforce. And Professor Chileshe said while the metal prices have been fluctuating in the past 6 months, he foresees a flourish mining sector especially if there is serious reorganization of mines such as KCM.
