We, a consortium of political parties and non-governmental organizations, are urging all Zambians regardless of their political or religious affiliation to attend the Day of National Prayers and Reconciliation slated for October 18.
We expect every patriotic Zambian to attend the said national event as it’s the best way to demonstrate our faith in God’s interventions in political, social and economic challenges the country is grappling with.
As a Christian nation, we should bury our differences and put God first in our quest to improve Zambians ‘welfare.
Moreover, we salute President Edgar Lungu for having declared the Day of National Prayers and Reconciliation.

UPND Women Prostrate Topless At Party Cadre’s Funeral http://tumfweko.com/2019/10/14/upnd-women-prostrate-topless-at-party-cadres-funeral/ http://tumfweko.com/2019/10/14/upnd-women-prostrate-topless-at-party-cadres-funeral/#respond Mon, 14 Oct 2019 08:40:17 +0000 http://tumfweko.com/?p=81042 A group of UPND women on Thursday prostrated topless at the funeral of party cadre Lawrence Banda who was shot dead during political violence in Kaoma last week.

This act is yet to be explained by the opposition party.

Multitudes of UPND members turned up to bid farewell to Banda who died in political violence/ during campaigns for the Kaoma council chairperson by-election held on Thursday, which the opposition party retained by a minimal margin.

Some UPND cadres conducted a funeral procession in town while carrying Banda’s coffin against the police’s advice that they do not do that because the act was considered unZambian.

On the other side at the Cathedral, a group of women, clad in UPND vitenges and bras only, prostrated before hundreds of mourners in what they say was to show displeasure at Banda’s death.

It is unclear why the opposition party allowed the cadres to move with a coffin in town in that matter and let the women prostrate topless during the funeral procession.

The questions that await answers are:

Why did the cadres move around town with a coffin and a body inside?

Did these cadres have regard and respect for the dead?

Did the opposition party really respect their member while he was alive to show this type of display in town?

And why were the women allowed to prostrate topless like that before a multitude of mourners?

Statement On UPND’s Misleading Assertion On ” Wind Of Change “ http://tumfweko.com/2019/10/11/statement-on-upnds-misleading-assertion-on-wind-of-change/ Fri, 11 Oct 2019 13:55:45 +0000 http://tumfweko.com/?p=81014

The assertion by opposition UPND that their recently retained Kaoma Council Chairperson seat signifies a ” Wind of Change” is not only misleading, an incorrect assessment of their perceived strongholds but also an attempt to gain cheap political mileage as usual.
In fact, the ruling PF has significantly gained ground in UPND’s perceived so called strongholds, as they have lost the Kaoma Council Chairperson seat by a very narrow margin.
We are also alive to the fact that there was voter apathy in the Kaoma by election, which was caused by the political violence perpetrated by the UPND.

Statement On The Recently Announced 2020 Budget http://tumfweko.com/2019/10/01/statement-on-the-recently-announced-2020-budget/ Tue, 01 Oct 2019 12:45:52 +0000 http://tumfweko.com/?p=80813 September 30, 2019

Zambian DNA is elated that the recently announced 2020 National Budget is progressive  and demonstrates Government’s resolve and commitment to address various critical issues of great concern to the majority Zambians and the business community.

It’s gratifying to note that the Government’s decision to abandon Sales Tax is a right step in the right direction as it demonstrates that we have a listening Government under the stewardship of President Edgar Lungu whose interest is not only to build the much- needed investor confidence, spur and accelerate economic growth, but also to improve the Zambian people’s welfare.

Suffice to mention that Government‘s commitment to improve the Zambian people’s welfare and stimulate private sector’s contribution to economic growth cannot be over empathized given their willingness to dismantle  domestic arrears owed to retirees and contractors.

Don’t Vote For Political Parties That Are Allergic That To Development http://tumfweko.com/2019/09/30/dont-vote-for-political-parties-that-are-allergic-that-to-development/ Mon, 30 Sep 2019 08:19:51 +0000 http://tumfweko.com/?p=80793
UPND members of parliament leave the House after Speaker announced their 30 days suspension : pix curtesy of News Diggers

As Zambian DNA, we stand on firm grounds to state that there are opposition Members of Parliament and Council Chairpersons, as well as Councilors in this country who are allergic to development in their respective places- they show more allegience to the party leadership than to those who elected them to serve in those positions.

It is for that reason why months ago, we had a by-election in Kafue and there is going to be a by-election in Kaoma Central for Council Chairmanship because those victims of opposition political party dictatorship chose to lobby Central Government for developmental projects or to meet the Head of State and because of that, they were expelled from the party. We all know that only Central Government can deliver development to all parts of Zambia, without leaving anyone behind because it is the one with the mandate to govern the country.
We are asking the people of Kaoma Central (where there is a by-election), not to vote for a Candidate that will come from the party that is allergic to development but rather vote for a Candidate that will lobby Central Government for development and that Candidate can only come from the ruling party because the one from the opposition will not be allowed to approach Government. So what will be a point of voting for them? After a short while, once they vote for them, they will be expelled by their party and there will be a by-election. At this point, we are going through austerity measures, it is important that we save money and not waste it on by-elections.
Don’ t vote for an opposition Candidate, because they will cause a by-election and you will be made to spend the money which you haven’t got. Vote for a person who will be able to bring development in your area and that is a ruling party candidate.
We are also concerned that opposition Members of Parliament are being told how to behave in parliament. We have seen political leaders telling their members not to attend National Dialogue Forum(NDF). They have been directed not to vote for the NDF bill when it goes to Parliament…but we wonder because those lead.ers were not voted in those position by the party leadership, they were voted in those positions by the people.

PF Facing Wide Exit Door – UPND http://tumfweko.com/2019/09/29/pf-facing-wide-exit-door-upnd/ Sun, 29 Sep 2019 09:25:57 +0000 http://tumfweko.com/?p=80774 UPND deputy spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa says the PF is facing a very wide exit door.

He says at no time has UPND or its leader Hakainde Hichilema advocated for gay rights whether within the Zambia or outside.

Responding to social media reporting alleging that Hakainde Hichilema supported gay rights, Mweetwa, the Choma Central UPND member of parliament, said Zambia’s laws were very clear that gayism had no place in Zambia.

He said the UPND have been very clear on what they stand for.

“This circulation that HH is advocating for gay rights is coming out of the PF propaganda pharmaceutical because PF now can no longer live by the truth. They live and survive, every minute and day, by deception, by propaganda and misinformation, by denying the truth and live by serving the nation on a menu or diet of lies,” he said. “This is a scheme that has been crafted to sway attention from the main challenges the people are facing. This is a deliberate side-show for the people to forget about debating, not to pay attention to the issues about hunger, the rising cost of mealie-meal, the rising cost of fuel, electricity, the lack of jobs by young people and the unaffordable cost of living.”

Mweetwa said the side-show was deliberate and must be dismissed with the contempt it deserved

He said no amount of propaganda would save the PF from exiting government power in 2021.

“As we stand now, PF are staring at a very big door and on top of it is written ‘PF exit 2021’. It’s non-negotiable; the people of Zambia are fed up. Enough is enough!” Mweetwa said.

He said contrary to the Constitution of Zambia, the PF government was now on a path of promoting tribal and region division in the country.

Mweetwa said the PF ministers and the ruling party were promoting tribal and region division in and out of Parliament, which was alarming.

“You saw when HH wanted to donate a genset in Chawama, they said if he wants to donate, let him take it to Bweengwa. That was the government spokesperson (Dora Siliya) shamelessly saying so! HH yesterday wanted to donate mealie-meal in Soloboni area in Kafue; the State how did they respond” They said if HH wants to donate mealie-meal, let him go and donate the mealie-meal in Bweengwa and Namwala,” Mweetwa said.

He said this amounts to tribal consignment of Hichilema to say he could only help the people of Bweengwa because that was where he came from.

Mweetwa said If Hichilema today were to go to Bweengwa and donate mealie-meal, people like Siliya and PF media director Sunday Chanda would be the first ones to say that ‘HH can only the people where he comes from’.

“I want to remind them; fortunately, both of them Dora Siliya and Sunday Chanda, are political pedestrians who were in MMD at the time they were calling Mr Sata all sorts of names that he can never be a president. Now they are in PF calling UPND and HH all sorts of names,” he said. “We understand them because that’s their nature. But they needed to be reminded that HH is a national leader because this is a leader who accounts for 50 percent of the votes in 2016. He got about 1.7 million votes, one percent difference with President Lungu and that one per cent is even disputed. The 1.7 million votes come from all the 10 provinces of Zambia and when he wants to help, he is responding as a national leader. He is responding to a national crisis, wanting to assist a government of failures.”

Mweetwa said instead of appreciating the opposition leader that instead of engaging in politics all the time, and this time he was acting to help the government to respond to the national crisis, they were vilifying him.

He said hunger was not a political issue and that when Hichilema goes to make donations, he does not ask people to come with UPND cards.

He said all Hichilema does was to ask the local people to identify the vulnerable people, including the aged.

“So for them to continue labeling him that he should go and donate in Bweengwa is ridiculous,” Mweetwa said.

“It is mediocre leadership and it explains why the country is stagnated in the mud of poverty. Poverty in Zambia now is being exemplified in the PF as not just lacking resources in material and financial resources but lack of intellectual resource.”

Mweetwa also expressed grave concern over the behaviour of the police on Wednesday when they swarmed the entire Kafue to block Hichilema from donating mealie-meal.

“There is no routine operation which swarms a town like that! I was a police officer; police officers don’t work anyhow. To take truckloads of police officers to Kafue and say ‘it is routine….’ Anyway, we’ll not blame the police – they are working under difficult circumstances. When you have a leadership like the one Zambia has, even the police begin to look incompetent when they are not,” Mweetwa said.

Statement On: A known Opposition Leader’s Desire To Introduce Gay Rights and Same Sex Marriage. http://tumfweko.com/2019/09/27/statement-on-a-known-opposition-leaders-desire-to-introduce-gay-rights-and-same-sex-marriage/ Fri, 27 Sep 2019 12:31:38 +0000 http://tumfweko.com/?p=80723 We, a consortium of political parties and Non GovernmentalOrganizations(NGOs) are extremely shocked to learn through the media that a known opposition leader in Zambia, wants to introduce gay rights and same sex marriage if given a chance  to govern the country.
However, as a Christian Nation, Zambia does not subscribe to practices that are contrary to our Christian values and principles.
It is for this reason that we are urging the Zambian people to reject political leaders, who are bent on promoting alien practices that hold the potential to contaminate our culture, as gay rights and same sex marriage are both  unZambian and unChristian.

Ba Lungu, Talk About Hunger Not Same Marriage Things -Laura Miti http://tumfweko.com/2019/09/27/ba-lungu-talk-about-hunger-not-same-marriage-things-laura-miti/ Fri, 27 Sep 2019 08:17:30 +0000 http://tumfweko.com/?p=80717 Laura Miti writes
Kwena ba Lungu😢

I am honestly perplexed at how the President found himself talking about gay rights in New York! Gay right😳!
How are they even on a list of issues that should concern the President right now 🤷🏽‍♀️?

Look
1. We are having 14 hour power cuts.
2. The informal sector that employs majority poor Zambians is bleeding due to those power cuts.
3. We have a desperate hunger crisis in parts of the country.
4. Mealie-meal and fuel prices are through the roof.
5. Vodacom has closed taking down many jobs.
6. We have a frightening constitutional amendment bill going through Parliament
7.Government is broke because of shocking wastage and stealing of recklessly borrowed money.
8. Hospitals have no medicine.
9.There is an explosion of youth unemployment and desperation.
10. The public is desperate for a press briefing that addresses these issues but the President resolutely refuses to hold one leaving the country feeling patently leaderless.

Then the President makes some random statement about how he imagines that removing him from office will bring gay rights to Zambia.

Yaba ba Lungu!
