UPDATED : POLICE DIG OUT Burried K2.1 Billion At AUSTIN LIATO’S House

PARTNERS in Crime ? Austin Liato (L) with RB

FORMER Labour Minister in the MMD government Austin Liato’s house has been raided by a combined team of Zambia Police and other government investigative wings.
The police have since dug out K2.1 Billion which was buried in the ground at his house at Mwembeshi Farm.

Tumfweko has not yet established why the former minister was keeping and hiding the K2.1 Billion Cash in the ground by burrying it and not depositing it in the bank.
But other sources have briefed Tumfweko that it’s in connection with money laundering activities.

And Inspector General of Police Martin Malama in interview this morning around 02:30hrs at the Task Force on Corruption Headquarters said that the money buried was in an unfinished building on Mr. Liato’s farm.

ROCOVERED Money from AUSTIN LIATO's Farm on 11/25

Dr. Malama says the money which is in 20 and 50thousand kwacha notes was buried in an unfinished building secured with Alarm Systems on Mr. Liato’s Farm.
He says the money was put in two safes and concealed in two metal trunks with a thick layer of concrete on top.

Dr. Malama says the move is not an act of retribution on the former government but a mere exercise of cleaning up the system

He has further called on political cadres to desist from making plunderers heroes at the expense of the masses.

Meanwhile Zambia Police Service Spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela revealed that police also discovered some vehicles and other assets on Mr. Liato’s Farm, Mpamba Settlement scheme lot 44, Mwembeshi area.

She says the garage where the vehicles were parked was also secured with alarm systems.

Ms. Kanjela says police commenced the operation around 16:00hrs yesterday but were only able to break the safes in the early hours of this morning.

The money most of it in 25million kwacha bunches had bank slips from Bank of Zambia, Finance Bank and ZANACO among others with dates between March 2010 and March 2011.

The operation was conducted by a combined team of officers from Zambia Police, Anti Corruption Commission –ACC- and the Drug Enforcement Commission –DEC-.

ACC Commissioner Roswin Wandi and her counterpart from the DEC were present during the interview.

JCC you are either mad or simply very ****** person or both. Only in Zambia can you even discuss this; What businesses are you talking about? Do you really understand what money laundering is? Any upright person (including prospective lawyers) wouldn’t envy Mr. Liato’s position right now; he needs to be caged else the police will never ever cage and ex minister for abuse of office or corruption…

This case doesn’t need a lawyer. This is classified as 1st degree stealing from the poor. If sakwiba decide to defend this thug, then sakwiba hould be taken to chaina without hesitation. Sakwiba should keep ethics at least once in his life time .

JCC are you living in a vaccume? Supporting plunger openly? Liato being Minister at labour must have been on the payroll of all those fake infesters mistreating our brothers and sisters in their companies/enterprises. The rot even got down to the labour office where bribes were raining like manner from heaven.

Check also passport office who have established fake offices just across the road to their offices charging two times for a passport to be obtained in a day and pocket the money. ACC waylay them just put a plant to prove this.

    Ba JCC,

You should not cheat people. A Business Account can not be used for personal use. Liato being a Politician is already a suspicious account holder and if I was DEC/ACC/ZPS, I would like to interview the Bank Branch Managers of the respective Branches. This was a Business account used for personal use and they should have alerted the Anti-money laundering unit. If he is so rich why would he be burying money in an incomplete buiding if it was genuinely or ganfully obtained? If he is rich he would invest that money where it would give him good returns, like buying shares, buying houses or even stock piling materials for his incomplete Building or even paying some one to complete the structure. This one is in my opinion an alleged thief. Being a public officer he could have been on a payroll of some sort from some interested party to get them some concessions for Government contracts or for turning a blind eye to law breakers! Worse still this could be money from Public coffers! Was he not labour minister, are you not surprised at the work permits issued to South African, Zimbabwean, Chinese, Indian, Malaysian and Philipino labourers at the expense of indigenuous Zambians? Unfortunately this is just the tip of the iceberg and there are a lot more dark and dirty secrets that these politicians are keeping to themselves, such as Ba Kunda, the Justice Minister providing services to Government albeit ZAMTEL when the principal is holding public office. That is so unethical, even if in Zambia we have now turned a blind eye to ethics, morality and principals. Sebana Wikute

Its amazing what some pipo can do. But is GK (George Kunda) saying its retribution? Is he normal? Kiping K2.1 Bilion underground by that fat fool confirms that looting took place under RB’s reign

    November 25, 2011 at 12:51 pm

This story makes sad reading and can not go without comment.

The MMD goverment has truly been a disgrace to our country. We are crying for the opening of companies like mulungushi textiles in Kabwe so that the majority of our people can have employment to afford the nessecities of life and on the other side the MMD are busy barring huge sums of money in the soil for personal glory. i have never seen such levels of selfishness.

May the current goverment save this country.

    GOD BLESS OUR LAND.

It is all becoming clear now. This was the reason chaps were panicking. Imagine a government which has office orderlies who buy houses cash. what do you expect the bosses to be. It is even possible tha RB paid his team these Billions. I think the chaps who joined the campaigns e.g Kavindele, BY Mwila etc must have also received loot.

Bamunyinane, lets support Ba Sata and give him time to bring these crooks to book.
